The entrance to the Old Prison, Chorrol.

The Old Prison is a guard complex accessible via a guard tower in Chorrol, behind Northern Goods and Trade. The upper floors are still inhabited and patrolled by the town guards, but the dungeon itself has long been abandoned.

There are two entrances: the first (and easier to find) one is a door in one tower; the other is an old cistern access in the ruins of a guard tower outside the city, which is locked (Virani will give you the key as part of the Gate Into A Dark History quest). Both entrances lead to the dungeon itself, which is partially collapsed and full of rubble. The area is pitch-black, so you'll need either night-eye or a light source to see; it's also infested with skeletons.

If you go down through the tower, you'll come to a T-intersection; left will take you to the cells, and right will eventually lead to a passage that runs by a huge silver gate. If you stumble across this in your explorations, you'll receive the Gate Into A Dark History quest; there is no way to open the gate until later in the quest. The cistern access comes down at the end of this passage, not far from the gate.

Other locations of note: There are entrances to Malintus Ancrus' house and the Chapel Undercroft, though going through either one constitutes trespassing.
