Ainethach was a Reachfolk landowner. He governed the town of Karthwasten and the nearby Sanuarach Mine during the early years of the third century of the Fourth Era.[1][2][3]

Ainethach's family owned Karthwasten for generations. As of 4E 201 Ainethach was one of the last remaining Reachfolk landowners. He was disliked by both the Nords and the radical Reachmen group Forsworn who saw him as a race-traitor,[1] however some natives and Nords held him in high regards.[4][5][3] He employed both Reachfolk, Nords and Orcs,[2][6] his right-hand man was a Nord, known as Ragnar.[4] During his stewardship, Karthwasten was targeted by the Silver-Blood family of Markarth, who wanted to acquire the mine from him. At some point, the Forsworn attacked the mines and the Silver-Blood mercenaries arrived immediately to defeat them, but remained in the area and halted the mining operations. The family wanted the land as a form of payment for their services.[7] This action was not seen as altruistic and was considered yet another ploy to coerce natives to sell the land.[1] Whether or not the mining town was ultimately claimed by the family is unknown, but it remained active regardless.[8]
The settlement was also attacked by a group of Forsworn who kidnapped future Sybil of Dibella, Fjotra.[5] An emmisary of the House of Dibella sought for information about the missing girl. Ainethach directed them to the girl's father Enmon.[1] The girl was eventually found and rescued.[9]
He fathered two children, Voada and Rondach. As of 4E 201, they were adults, lived in Markarth and worked in the Understone Keep.[10][11]
