Bloodknights are vampires who have absorbed the power of several other vampires.[1] They are larger, stronger and faster than normal vampires.[2] Bloodknights have a difficult time restraining their more base instincts, giving them a beast-like quality.[2] They usually operate in service to Vampire Lords.[1] Lady Essenia of Greymoor Keep managed to create her own bloodknights by alchemically blending the bloodlines of several vampires, using Azure Plasm as a catalyst.[2] She would then infect vampires with this mixture, infecting her subjects with a strain of vampirism she dubbed Chaotica Vampiris.[2] Unlike Porphyric Hemophilia or Sanguinare Vampiris, Chaotica Vampiris only affects those already inflicted with vampirism.[2]
The alchemist Arkasis managed to create his own bloodknights through use of a substance called vitalizer fluid. The alchemist discovered the process needed vitalizer fluid as it spurred on process of bloodknight development and growth.[3] The process required the vitalizer fluid to continuously circulate through alchemical vats, due to the process being quite delicate. If the process were to stop, the bloodknight would be rendered inviable as a result.[4]
