Dalaneth reading

Dalaneth is a Wood Elf who lives with her father, Mathragor, and the rest of her clan in Bloodtoil Valley. She and Ulagash are deeply in love, much to the chagrin of the Drublog clan. After Shaman Yarnag caught the young couple embracing by the lake and informed Chief Ulukhaz, the tension between the Bosmer and the Wood Orcs has erupted in violence.

She and Ulagash were praying together at a shrine to Mauloch when Shaman Yarnag stumbled across them once again, stabbing Ulagash and forcing Dalaneth to flee without her lover.

Quest-Related EventsEdit

When you first approach her, she will lament for the violence caused by she and Ulagash's indulgence in forbidden love:

"We didn't mean to cause any trouble. How could love between two people cause so much suffering?

If Z'en and Mauloch is active, she'll say:

"Spinners don't usually write their tales down. I guess since this valley's been fought over many times, they wanted to keep their tales from fading. We're lucky these journals exist!"
Your father said you were attacked.
"It all happened so quickly. I don't...Shaman Yarnag came at us in a rage. He screamed that we were unworthy to pray at Mauloch's shrine. Then he drew his weapon....
Ulagash, my love! You have to help him!"
You and Ulagash were lovers?
"I'd hoped we would be one day. But Shaman Yarnag saw us embracing by the lake a few nights ago. He must have told Chief Ulukhaz. She flew into a rage.
Since then, all arguments end in bloodshed. Peace has been torn asunder."
Why did the chief object?
"In the eyes of Z'en, all love is welcome. But worshippers of Mauloch, like Shaman Yarnag, feel Orcs should keep to themselves and not consort with other races.
My dear Ulagash must still be with Shaman Yarnag. I fear for his life. Please, help him!"
Where should I go?
"They were still in Mauloch's shrine when I ran away. I think Ulagash was stabbed by the shaman!
Have mercy, Z'en! Don't let us be parted like this!"

If you try to speak to her again, you can ask additional questions:

What do you know about the worshipers of Mauloch?
"They're rabid beasts who sing praises to the Blood of Mauloch. Legend says there is a cave somewhere in Malabal Tor where the blood flows like water.
Shaman Yarnag claims to lead his people to that "promised land." He's nothing more than a tyrant."
Tell me about Ulagash.
"He's the chief's son. I told him of my father's worries, but he said he would talk sense into his mother.
We didn't foresee how far Shaman Yarnag would go to turn Chief Ulukhaz against us."

While you are attempting to find Ulagash, the Drublog will attack the village and abduct Dalaneth. In the hope of saving Dalaneth, you must launch an assault on the Drublog's stronghold and slay Chief Ulukhaz. Unfortunately, you will have arrived too late. You will find Dalaneth lying on the floor of the chief's hut, fatally wounded by Chief Ulukhaz.

Speaking to her before Chief Ulukhaz attacks you:

"Please, help. The Orcs…."

However, even in her last moments alive, her only thoughts are of securing peace between the Bosmer and the Drublog:

"Please, help. The Drublog..."
Hold still. You've lost a lot of blood.
"The chief...she went mad. Ulagash and I...we tried to stop her.
And Shaman Yarnag...he used Ulagash's blood! The chief's son!"
How did this start?
"Shaman Yarnag meant to kill me, but Ulagash stopped him. He took the blow meant for me.
Please, you have to end this. Tell my father...no more blood!"
I'll tell him, Dalaneth.

She will then succumb to her wounds. Her death will drive Mathragor into a rage, and you must subsequently decide how to address his burning desire to exact vengeance upon the remainder of the Drublog clan.
