The Wizard's TomeEdit

Denthis and Valdam in the Mages Guild, if Denthis was freed

You'll first encounter him on the lower floor of the temporary Mages Guild in Davon's Watch, stewing in annoyance:

"I'll have his heart…"

Speaking to him:

"Stranger, I'm bold to ask, but have you met a man named Denthis Romori in the neighborhood?"
No, I haven't.
"My worthless apprentice. He stole one of my spellbooks.
Unfortunately for him, I am no fool. That book is protected by a ward invoking, oh, Arkay or Akatosh. I imagine he regrets taking that book now."
Why tell me this?
"Why? I want my spellbook back, and I want to flay him alive.
You can search for him, or his brother might know where he is. Dithis favors the tavern nearby. Oh, and please don't mention the flaying."
I'll find your apprentice.

Speaking to him after accepting the quest:

"Once, I caught Denthis trying to make nix-hounds glow purple. Why would anyone do that?"

After speaking to Dithis:

"I'm almost certain the incantation is "Arkay's Beard," but Akatosh is a more reliable deity.
It's definitely one of those two. I think."

Speaking to him after finding Denthis, but before attempting to revert the spell:

"Well?"

If Denthis was turned into a chicken, you'll need to take the book back to Valdam.

"Denthis once wanted a spell to make people taller and heavier. He said it would give us "parity" in dealing with the Nords.
He's an idiot. A thieving idiot.
My book?"
Here's your book back. It … well, it turned your apprentice into a chicken.
"Ah, my spellbook! Excellent.
If you're hungry later, come back. I have a delightful recipe for roast chicken."

If you speak to him after the quest (if Denthis was turned into a chicken), he'll say:

"I'm still deciding what to do with my apprentice.
No, I'm not going to eat him. The guild would disapprove, though Vivec knows he deserves it!"

After the quest, if the warding broke:

"You have my thanks. If the Mages Guild found him like that, I'd have a lot to explain.
Flaying, on the other hand …."

A Goblin's AffectionEdit

Approaching him near the Ashen Road Wayshrine, he will snark:

"My apprentice thinks he's an archmage of a college."

If you completed The Wizard's Tome and Denthis became a chicken:

"Strange meeting you out here in the wilds. I never did eat my apprentice, though now I somewhat wish I had."

If you completed The Wizard's Tome and prevented Denthis from turning into a chicken:

"Strange meeting you out here in the wilds. After Davon's Watch, I hadn't expected to see you again.
If I might say it, another…minor issue has arisen."

Otherwise if you haven't met him before:

"My ambitious apprentice seems to be in some trouble."
What's happened?
"He thinks he's a magical genius. To prove a point, he's transformed his brother into a Goblin … a lady Goblin.
The chieftain of the nearby Shadowsilk tribe has taken him prisoner. He has every intent of taking Dithis as his tribal matron."
How can I help?
"I've created a refined Spell Gem that should allow you to slip into the camp. Just be wary. The spiders guarding the Goblins will not be fooled.
Assault Chieftain Grimmstal and return Dithis to us safely, if you would be so kind."
I'll save Dithis from his impending … marriage.

Speaking with him again:

"The Spell Gem will get you into camp, but make sure to avoid the clan's spiders. They'll see right through the illusion and attack."

If you need another Shadowsilk Gem, he will provide you another one:

I need another Shadowsilk Gem.

After returning with Dithis, he'll say:

"And Dithis has returned. Unharmed, from the looks of his green skin."
Happy to help, Master.
"I hope these two have learned from their mistakes. Spellcrafting is not to be taken lightly. Like a Goblin's heart, apparently."

After the quest:

"I've decided to leave Dithis as a Goblin for a few days. Hopefully, it will remind the brothers of what happens when they meddle in magic they don't understand."

Securing the PassEdit

He can be found assisting the Ebonheart Pact at Trolhetta. He will be at a campfire with Walks-in-Ash and Holgunn One-Eye:

"If ever you meet Sinmur, I suggest you run."

You can ask for aid from him if you successfully persuaded Jorunn. If you choose to request aid from him, he will send a Pact Healer to accompany you:

"Have you retrieved the shards of Wuuthrad? Without them, Sinmur will be extremely difficult to defeat.
If you don't have the shards, I suggest you recruit friends to aid you."
You have aid to offer me?
"If you wish, I can offer a healer to accompany you."
Thank you; I accept.
"You will be honored with the presence of one of our finest healers. Do not let us down!"
Let me think about it.
"Do not take too long, Time is not on our side."

If you exit Trolhetta Cave before destroying the Reaper Orb:

"There is no time for failure. If you cannot lead us to Sinmur, we must find someone who can."

Stomping SinmurEdit

Valdam will assist you in harnessing the power of Wuuthrad to defeat Sinmur. You will find him at the summit and before you speak to Jorunn:

"The braziers I've prepared will harness the power of the shards of Wuuthrad. Gather all that you can.
When I give the word, activate the brazier to unleash the power of each shard."

He will assist you in fighting the Worm Cultists and then later during the fight with Sinmur, he will help harness the power of the shards to expel Thallik Wormfather from Sinmur.

At the end of the battle, he will witness Ysgramor and his Companions congratulating the Pact heroes for stopping Sinmur.

You speak to him after the quest where he will be at the Pact camp at the base of Trolhetta:

"Your heroics today have even succeeded in impressing me, and that is no small thing.
Thallik Wormfather and the ghost giant Sinmur are both dead. Mark my words—this will be what King Jorunn's reign will be remembered for."

NotesEdit

  • One of his projects was to create a Magma-suit designed to withstand the heat of magma. Damaged pairs of the experimental coveralls can be found around Tamriel.
