Detailed WalkthroughEdit

Speak to Swims-In-Deep-Water:

I'm ready for the next fishing challenge.
"Of course. It's all in this note."
I'll return with these rare catches soon. / This looks like it'll be a real challenge. I'll do my best.
"My thanks to you."

He will then hand you a list of rare fish to catch

  • Angelfish - Angelfish are rare and can only be caught when fishing with an Alik'r Fishing Rod in temperate lakes. Two guaranteed Angelfish can be found in a pool within Ancestor Glade and can be caught without a fishing rod.
  • Angler - Can only be caught in freezing waters while using the Argonian Fishing Rod. A lone Angler can be found at Pilgrim's Trench in a small rocky cove on the ocean floor (there are clams to the left and right of the mouth of the cove, and more on top of it), just to the west of the sunken ships, no fishing necessary. This is found in the Food section of Items.
  • Lyretail Anthias- Can only be caught in temperate streams while using an Alik'r fishing rod. Three guaranteed Lyretails can be found in the waters of Evergreen Grove.
  • Scorpion Fish - Can only be caught in underground fishing spots while using the Argonian Fishing Rod. They can also be found in Darkfall Cave. This is found in the Food section of Items.

Return to Swims:

It wasn't easy, but here are the fish you asked for.
"You are like my brood to me. Here. A token."
Are there any more fishing challenges you can give me?
"You've already learned all I can teach you."

He will then reward you with the Fang of Haynekhtnamet.

BugsEdit

Sometimes the fish you can pick up (not caught by fishing) mentioned above aren't there. If this happens, you can zone and zone back to get them to spawn. (For Ancestor Glade, leave the cave and zone back in. For Pilgrim's Trench, zone into nearby Ysgramor's Tomb and back out.)

Quest StagesEdit

Fishing Legend (ccBGSSSE001_Fish_MQ5)
Stage Finishes Quest Journal Entry
10 Swims-In-Deep-Water has given me another fishing challenge. I should read the list he gave me to see what I will need to catch.
20 For my final challenge, the fish I am to catch are both rare and found in locations all over Skyrim. The fifth volume of Fishing Mastery has details on where, and how, to catch them. I should return them to Swims-In-Deep-Water once I've caught them all.
21 For my final challenge, the fish I am to catch are both rare and found in locations all over Skyrim. Angelfish can be found in temperate lakes, and can only be caught with an Alik'r fishing rod. The lyretail anthias can be caught in temperate streams with the Alik'r rod as well. Anglers are only caught in freezing waters using the Argonian fishing rod. Finally, scorpion fish are found underground. Like the angler, scorpion fish can only be caught by using the Argonian fishing rod.
200 Finishes quest  I've completed Swims-In-Deep-Water's final fishing challenge, designating me a legendary fisherman. He granted me the Fang of Haynekhtnamet, an exquisite Argonian dagger, as a reward.

Notes
  • Any text displayed in angle brackets (e.g., <Alias=LocationHold>) is dynamically set by the Radiant Quest system, and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game.
  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
  • If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
  • On the PC, it is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering setstage ccBGSSSE001_Fish_MQ5 stage, where stage is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages, but it is possible to clear all stages of the quest using resetquest ccBGSSSE001_Fish_MQ5.
