Skyrim:Stealth

< Skyrim: Skills

This article is about the group of skills (of which Sneak is one). For the Sneak skill in particular, see Sneak.

Stealth is one of the three skill groups in Skyrim (Combat and Magic being the other two). Alchemy, the crafting skill for Stealth, is used to create potions and poisons with various effects. There are six skill trees: Pickpocket, Sneak, Lockpicking, Alchemy, Light Armor, and Speech. The Thief Stone allows experience for all stealth skills to be gained 20% faster.

PickpocketEdit

The Pickpocket skill allows you to steal items from a person. As perks are gained in this skill, you gain abilities that allow you to make pickpocketing attempts more likely to succeed, silently kill people with poisons, increase your maximum carrying capacity, and the ability to steal equipped items. The Pickpocket skill tree has a total of 8 perks, requiring a total of 12 perk points to fill.

In-game Description: The stealthy art of picking an unsuspecting target's pockets. A skilled pickpocketer is less likely to be caught and is more likely to loot valuables.

For more information, see the main article.

SneakEdit

The Sneak skill governs your ability to escape detection by others through reducing your visibility and noisiness. It is primarily useful for committing crimes without being witnessed, for evading confrontation with enemies, and for executing surprise attacks that inflict critical damage.

Perks in the Sneak skill tree increase your chances of escaping detection, increase the damage you inflict with sneak attacks, and allow you to avoid setting off traps using pressure plate triggers. They can also give you the ability to perform a forward roll while sneaking and even briefly disappear from sight in the middle of combat. The Sneak skill tree has a total of 9 perks, requiring a total of 13 perk points to fill.

In-game Description: Sneaking is the art of moving unseen and unheard. Highly skilled sneaks can even hide in plain sight.

For more information, see the main article.

LockpickingEdit

Lockpicking is a skill that allows you to access most locked rooms and containers, or to disarm certain traps, without their corresponding keys. The Lockpicking skill tree has a total of 11 perks, requiring a total of 11 perk points to fill.

In-game Description: The art of lockpicking is used to open locked doors and containers faster and with fewer broken lockpicks.

For more information, see the main article.

AlchemyEdit

Alchemy is the art of brewing potions and poisons by combining ingredients with matching effects, using an Alchemy Lab. Initially, you don't know the effects of ingredients and must discover them by eating ingredients, reading recipes, or brewing them into potions. The alchemy skill tree has 9 perks, requiring 15 perk points to fill. Each level in the alchemy skill increases the effectiveness of crafted potions and poisons by 0.5% for +50% effectiveness at level 100 compared to level 0.

In-game Description: An alchemist can create magical potions and deadly poisons.

For more information, see the main article.

Light ArmorEdit

Light Armor is the skill governing your ability to fight and move in light armor. Each skill point increases your armor rating from Light Armor by 0.4% (1.5% for NPCs). The Light Armor skill tree has a total of 6 perks, requiring a total of 10 perk points to fill.

In-game Description: Those trained to use Light Armor make more effective use of Hide, Leather, Elven, Scale and Glass armors.

For more information, see the main article.

SpeechEdit

The Speech skill (referred to as Speechcraft in the Console) allows you to more effectively persuade people and to barter with shopkeepers. Perks in this skill allow you to get better deals when trading, buy and sell any kind of item to any merchant, and make it more likely for a persuasion or intimidation attempt to succeed. The Speech skill tree has a total of 9 perks, requiring a total of 13 perk points to fill.

In-game Description: The skill of persuasion can be used to get better prices from merchants, and persuade others to do as you ask.
