A Hesitant ReturnEdit

For better or worse, I have temporarily returned to the UESP, astonished to see how deeply it has progressed in my absence, and thrilled to be back. I do hope those of you who were awaiting a reply can forgive me my long period of abstenia, which was due to manifold personal issues, including the loss of some beloved family members and a long stretch in the hospital. My thanks for your notices, your patience, and any welcome I may recieve. I will answer every notice in here, irregardless of date, lest any of the posters should check back.

Thanks!Edit

Thanks for the cookie, and glad to help with the Dictionary. I'd made some forays there, but your new format is a good way to standardise it further.

One question: where did you get the pronunciations from? Are they just your transliterations? I ask because at some stage I'll hopefully get around to getting back into Oblivion and get the pronunciations of TES-specific words like "Akaviri" from the voice actors. --Actreal 17:29, 3 October 2006 (EDT)

No thanks necessary; frankly, I'm surprised someone didn't give you one sooner. That much aside...
The pronunciations for common words (archer, etcetera) were taken straight from dictionaries (a nice copy of Webster's 2005 Collegiate and Dictionary.com), while any ES-specific words were taken from official sources (where applicable, which is not very often). I had planned - as you noted - to simply "get the pronunciations of TES-specific words...from the voice actors" as well. I'm currently working on "B" and would welcome your continued aid in the project. -- Booyah boy 17:35, 3 October 2006 (EDT)
Happy to keep helping. One question (as we seem to be the two editors doing most of the changes to Dictionary): Do you think we really need entries like "Arrow" and "Bracer" where the definition is exactly the same as the real dictionary meaning, and there is no Tamriel-specific info? However, entries like Katana (IIRC) are worth keeping because they refer to katanas from a TES perspective. So I propose removing only those with no TES-specific merit --Actreal 23:51, 3 October 2006 (EDT)
I couldn't agree with you more, and had hoped to compile a strictly TES dictionary. The entries you noted were already included in the former dictionary, and thus, were retained when I modified their format. I'm all for removing them, and welcome you to do so. -- Booyah boy 03:45, 4 October 2006 (EDT)

Amulet of KingsEdit

I saw on the discussion page for Amulet of Kings that you were working on a writeup for this page. Is that still in progress? I'm doing some work on royal Septim line, and am gathering quite a bit about the Amulet in the process. Let me know if you're still working on this one. --Hoggwild5 04:20, 10 October 2006 (EDT)

I still retain my original copy of the article I planned to submit, but have not committed any time to working on it - or other articles related to TES lore - for some time now. I've yet to check if you have already posted an article, but, should you remain an active member and ever see this message, I would welcome you to post what you wish. Thanks. -- Graye 12:33, 24 December 2006 (EST)

How Are You?Edit

I've noticed that you haven't edited anything for about two weeks, and I wanted to make sure you were alright. :| --Aristeo 01:11, 19 October 2006 (EDT)

Thank you, Aristeo, immensely, for your concern and well-wishes. I appreciate them both. As my notice above states, I'm back, and doing relatively alright. -- Graye 12:33, 24 December 2006 (EST)

Septim lineageEdit

Hi,

I'im the webmaster of la Grande Bibliothèque de Tamriel, a kind of french Imperial Library. I really like what you have done about the Septim lineage. Do you think it is possible to use the picture on my website?

I hope you'll agree,

--ELOdry 17:08, 30 November 2006 (EST)

You're welcome to make use of it wherever you would like, ELOdry. There are stylized editions of the chart available (including the crest and a paper-like background) if you would prefer such. I will post this same message on your discussion page, lest you no longer check this. My apologies for the delay in a response. -- Graye 12:33, 24 December 2006 (EST)

Dictionary Help?Edit

I'm really interested in helping with the dictionary, and you seemed to be the highest authority on it at this point. I actually started reformatting B like A is now before I dug a little further and saw you had started doing that already. I also noticed you hoped to finish by October. Want some help? Nicho.Krown 17:39, 8 December 2006 (EST)

Your aid would be of immense value, Nicho.Krown. I hope, as I have yet to check, that you have been able to commit some time to working on it already; in either case, please, by all means, join in. I would advise you to start at "Z" and work backwards, so as not to interfere with the edits of other TES dictionary editors, including Actreal and myself. Thank you. -- Graye 12:33, 24 December 2006 (EST)

Welcome BackEdit

It was good to hear from you again, although I'm very sorry to hear about all the issues that you've had to deal with over the last few months. Hopefully you've realized by now that the lack of replies to your messages wasn't because nobody was interested, but rather because UESP has had some pretty severe issues lately. Most editors have been completely unable to edit pages for a couple weeks (but hopefully things are starting to get fixed now).

Even if you're not able to be an active editor again, you'll always be welcome to stop by UESP. Maybe at some point you'll have some more time to contribute, or else perhaps just to check and see whether anyone has had a chance to update some of your projects. The contributions that you've made so far to the site have definitely been appreciated! --Nephele 20:20, 3 January 2007 (EST)

Thank you, Nephele, for the explanation and good wishes. My post was intended more as an explanation than a true return, as I sincerely doubt I will ever muster the resolve to come back in strength as an active member; as such, I'll waste no words in saying that "I too hope to find more time to contribute"...it's just something I doubt. Still, I do share your hope that someone will take up the projects I left behind, and improve those I began. In fact, I'm certain someone will. Again, thank you for the reply, and all you've done both for the site and myself in my time as an editor. -- Graye 21:55, 3 January 2007 (EST)

M'aiq greets you!Edit

Hello! M'aiq is not here for any particular reason, but I (while being, probably, a complete unknown) would like to give you my best wishes. I have read your user page, and the things you've been through were incredibly hard. This inexperienced 15-year-old can't even fully understand how it must have been. But you seem to be dealing with it pretty well, and I would like to congratulate you for that (: Once again my best wishes, and wether you ever fully return here or not, I hope you will see better times. M'aiqM'aiq thinks talk serves no purpose. 20:00, 27 August 2007 (EDT)

STOP: Cheesey Time!Edit

You have been given a wedge of cheese!!

Your dedication and diligence to the wiki has not gone unnoticed. A user has seen the progress you've made, and has given you a wedge of cheese because of it. Good work! The user had the following to say:

For having a mind-blowing userpage and making many valuable and coherent contributions. Down with Wikiscrolls! --HMSVictory 13:04, 24 November 2007 (EST)

Septim CrestEdit

Hi, Booyah boy/Graye! I hope you're doing well. I'm not sure whether you're still checking your UESP pages any more, but just in case you are, I figured I should ask this question here. There have been some questions (here and here) about the Septim Family Crest image that you originally uploaded. Specifically, we're trying to find out whether the image comes from an official source (shown in-game somewhere, or included in a book such as the Pocket Guide to the Empire), or whether you assembled it yourself from various in-game elements. We're making an effort to provide sources and verification for all of the Lore (formerly Tamriel) articles, which really should encompass images, too. If it's not an official image, we'll still keep it on the site, but probably use it a bit less widely and make sure that the image summary explains how it was created. As I said, I'm not sure you'll see this, but since you are obviously the most qualified person to answer questions about the image, any feedback you could provide would be very helpful. Thanks! --NepheleTalk 16:25, 8 September 2008 (EDT)
