As you have no doubt heard, our research team at Rielle was recently forced to evacuate after an army of undead apparently rose from the ancient tombs and began attacking indiscriminately. Before their premature flight from the Ayleid ruin, however, they were able to complete a translation of some ancient tablets and other Ayleid writings.
One tablet in particular has caught the attention of the Synod: loosely translated from Ayleidoon as the 'Flamelight Spire', this ancient staff is said to rest in Rielle's 'cimerean fathoms'. Direct translation of Ayleidoon carries with it, of course, a margin for error and leaves room for interpretation, but we believe the 'cimerean fathoms' refer, in more proper Cyrodilic, to the temple's 'inner sanctum', or darkest, furthest reaches.
It's common knowledge in academic circles by this point that Rielle, meaning 'beauty' in Ayleidoon, is an ancient Ayleid temple of Meridia, or Merid-Nunda as the Heartland Wild Elves referred to her. I therefore speculate, naturally, that this 'Flamelight Spire' is most likely an artifact of the Daedric Prince of Light and Infinite Energies, most probably designed to repulse or even exterminate undead.
Given the uprising of walking cadavers, the Synod urge great caution in this pursuit, but if you are able to reach the Flamelight Spire and return it to the Synod for study, I do imagine you'll be making the rank of Adjunct yourself very, very soon.
