Hroltar the Boaster was a Reachfolk high-ranking member of the Undaunted, known magic scroll enchanter and a former elite member of the Ard Caddach's Stonehands prior to his banishment. He was renowned for his creation of Scrolls of Glorious Battle.[1]
HistoryEdit
Hroltar was born in the Reach, during the Interregnum in the Second Era. He spent his youth there, where he was raised among one of the clans of Wilders. He started out as a warrior in the Reach, and eventually climbed up the ranks and became a member of Ard Caddach's royal Stonehands. He claimed to be a potential candidate for the leader of the faction, but due to a certain mistake, he was exiled from the organization. During his stay in the Reach he climbed the highest peak of the Druadach Mountains.[1]
Hroltar claimed to achieve many feats, though the validity of his claims is unclear. Among the more noteworthy claims were his ambitions to become the leader of the Stonehands, an attempted voyage to Yokuda, and meeting with two members of the Tribunal. Hroltar claimed that he tried to sail to Yokuda once. During the travel, a slaughterfish the size of a leviathan swallowed his boat. According to Hroltar's account, he survived thanks to the dead Sea Sload whose remains provided him with food supplies, and resources for a makeshift raft. He stated that he meet with Almalexia and Vivec and was aware of the existence of the Clockwork City, which he intended to visit to meet with the last member of the Tribunal Sotha Sil.[1]
At some point he joined the Undaunted.[1] During his time among the Undaunted he became renowned for his Scrolls of Glorious Battle, which were known for a potent spell empowering one's enemies with astonishing power.[2] According to his words he achieved this feat before learning magic properly and while being illiterate.[1] Members of the Undaunted were known to use those scrolls to make their fights and deeds even more legendary.[3][4][5] Hroltar was regarded highly by other high-ranking members of the ogranization and was known to try to beat a natural disasters into submission.[6]
At some point in 2E 582 he visited Markarth, where he used the services of the magus of the local chapter of the Mages Guild in order to deliver the message and rewards for the slayers of Maormer pirate known as the Fleet Queen Taleria.[7]
