Huna's lover, Pelinal, depicted fighting against Umaril the Unfeathered

Huna was one of the confidants and companions of the legendary Pelinal Whitestrake. He lived in the early First Era and was originally a Nedic slave of the Ayleid overlords who ruled over their human subjects at the early years of the First Era. As a slave, one of Huna's duties was collecting grain for Ayleid masters. At some point, during, or before the Alessian Slave Rebellion, he was liberated by Pelinal and given freedom. Huna decided to join the rebellion and was trained to become a hoplite.[1]

Eventually, the relationship between Huna and Pelinal transcended the one of a liberator and liberated,[1] to that of lovers.[UOL 1] Although Pelinal was by some legends lover of Alessia,[2] the only one he gave non-familial affection to was Huna, who "he had raised up from a grain-slave and loved well."[1]

Huna fought alongside Pelinal and other rebels, until he died by an arrow of Celethelel the Singer in 1E 242[3][4] or 1E 243.[1][5] Huna's death was a catalyst for Pelinal's madness. Once Huna died Pelinal would descend into several flights of madness during which he cut vast swathes in mindless fury to avenge him, destroying many Ayleid cities including Narlemae and Celediil,[1] as well as slaughtering the innocent Khajiit he mistook for Elves, which culminated in him being banished at the Sunspire by Alkosh.[6][7]

NotesEdit

  • ^  Michael Kirkbride stated the original passages of the Adabal-a and the Song of Pelinal, v3 relating to sexuality were edited, the latter's description of Huna changing from "a hoplite who Pelinal often shared a tent with at night" to "loved well", this was done to keep Pelinal's sexuality intentionally ambiguous. He also states that Huna was unambiguously male.[UOL 1]
