Khartag was an Orc smuggler and abolitionist who operated during the Interregnum around 2E 582. Khartag was a local legend among the Orsimer, not only for being a veteran of the Daggerfall Covenant and founder of the Ropefish gang of abolitionists, but as the namesake of the site known as Khartag Point, a monument to him and the Orcs in general.
HistoryEdit
BiographyEdit
Khartag's origins are unknown, but he was a member of the Daggerfall Covenant, an alliance consisting of the races surrounding the Iliac Bay, the Bretons, the Orsimer, and the Redguards. How Khartag arrived in Vvardenfell is also unknown, but in 2E 582, the Daggerfall Covenant had invaded the neighboring region of Stonefalls, located on the other side of the Inner Sea, from the south. He devoted his life to abolitionism, thus forming the Ropefish. The Ropefish had received notoriety throughout Vvardenfell, gaining the attention of Camonna Tong. The group had given Khartag a deal, including increasing the price for slaves to escape, chaining slaves en route, as well as compacting them into small ferries. Khartag was rubbed the wrong way, telling the Camonna Tong to essentially "tusk off."[1] This enraged the Camonna Tong, prompting them to raid the Ropefish and kill Khartag. Khartag was hit by a poisonous dagger, killing him in the process. Fortunately, most of the slaves Khartag helped were able to escape the Tong. One of his friends, Nakhul was made the leader of the Ropefish.[2]
LegacyEdit
Khartag's legend had spread across Vvardenfell, as the Ropefish continued to operate throughout the land. But eventually, the Ropefish faded into obscurity. The site where Khartag passed away would become known as Khartag Point. It has since been a monument, not only to Khartag, but the Orsimer in general. At one point, another Orc was dared to jump off the cliff, leading to their death. In 3E 427, a new shrine to Boethiah was built atop of the cliff, where it remained ever since.[3]
