Northmoor is a region on the western coast of High Rock in the Iliac Bay region. Northmoor lies on the Eltheric Ocean and only a small portion of it is not part of the Iliac Bay. The region is heavily forested[1] and geographically, it is located in Glenumbra. Caecilly Island was located somewhere off its coast before it disappeared.[2][Note 1]
HistoryEdit
When Northmoor was founded is unknown but its annual celebration, the Fire Festival comes from ancient times, in which it started as a pompous display of magic and their military strength. On the 20th of Second Seed, the Fire Festival has become one of High Rock's most attended celebrations and is more of an actual festival.[3] Northmoor's primary population consists of Bretons but other races and subcultures also live in the region.[1] Barbarians live in places such as the Stronghold of Moorcroft and the Elyzolda Assembly. Giants live in strongholds such as Yeerrugoth and Grolerker, and harpies roost in dungeons like the Trogotlas Mews and the Skulotten Aviary.[4] The Garlythi bloodline is the most dominant one in the region.[1] Moromulon Hall and the Ruins of Yeomsley Court are examples of vampire haunts in the Northmoor.[4]
Sometime in the fourth century of the Second Era, Serge of the Adlam Mining Conglomerate in Northmoor married Genevieve, sister of the then King of Daggerfall, Donel Deleyn. This and the king's marriage with Lady Sylvie Garclay of Aldcroft strengthened House Deleyn's rule.[5]
In 3E 405, the duchy of Northmoor was ruled by an unnamed Duke, who also went by the title of Marquis of Calder.[6] The duchy's main patron deity was Mara, who is represented through the Benevolence of Mara. At the time, it was neighbored by Glenpoint to the south, the Glenumbra Moors to the southwest, the Ilessan Hills to the southeast, and Ykalon to the east. A small portion of it does not fall into the Iliac Bay and is omitted from maps of the region. Many cities dotted the region's landscape, from the west coast to the eastern interior. These included the capital city, Cathwych, Gallobrugh, Gothcroft, Graywell, Riptower, Vanlech, and Westworth.[1]
In 3E 417, when the Miracle of Peace occurred, Northmoor was annexed by the Kingdom of Daggerfall, at the time ruled jointly by King Gothryd and Queen Aubk-i.[7] Like other conquered territories, Northmoor was able to retain its original name but is sometimes referred to as Daggerfallian Northmoor.[UOL 1]

NotesEdit
-
^An alternate version of Tal Marog Ker's Researches called Harvest's End replaces Northmoor with Glenumbra.
- Northmoor was originally set to appear in ESO as a settlement ruled by Lord Sebastien, who was married to one of King Fahara'jad's daughter, Parvani of the Nine Crowns. The Hands of Northmoor were the original militia order based in town but was getting superseded by the Magis Order of battlemages. When King Ranser is assassinated in Northmoor, the threat of war occurs between Northmoor and Shornhelm. King Fahara'jad sends Oron, an official of the Nine Crowns to find Ranser's killer and prevent war.[UOL 2]
