Staada is a Golden Saint commander in service to Sheogorath that is often entrusted with critical missions.[1][2][3][4] She notably wears the Mad God's signet ring.[5] Like her fellow Aureal, Staada is linked to the amber that grows in the Root system of the Shivering Isles, which is sometimes used in rituals to summon or even bind Golden Saints. However, the usage of rarely-occurring Sheogorath-shaped amber is required to summon her.[6]
HistoryEdit
Second EraEdit
Circa 2E 582, Staada was summoned to Tamriel, where she guarded a lesser summoning circle deep in the Alik'r Desert southeast of Sentinel. She maintained a mysterious portal there until she was banished by a group of adventurers.[1]
The significance of Staada allowed her to be documented within the Infinite Archive in Apocrypha. There, copies of various entities were subsequently created as maligraphies, creatures composed of vivified ink manifested by stories from books, and served as mindless extensions of the Daedric Lord Tho'at Replicanum. A maligraphic copy of Staada was formed, which was destroyed by mortal adventurers aided by augmentations directly from Hermaeus Mora.[7][8][9]
Third EraEdit
In the fourth century of the Third Era, Sheogorath made a wager with Azura to see if a person in isolation for a century would be able to prevent themselves from going mad through meditation. In 3E 427, Sheogorath sought to interfere with the wager by disturbing the seclusion of Azura's priestess, Rayna Drolan, and tasked Staada and various minions to invade the Isle of the Daedra[10]:29 in the Sheogorad region of Vvardenfell. Azura charged the Nerevarine with banishing the Daedric invaders and bringing back proof of the Mad God's meddling. The Nerevarine defeated Staada and took Sheogorath's Signet Ring from her corpse as proof.[2]
In 3E 433, Staada was serving as the commander of Brellach in the Shivering Isles when the Greymarch began. The forces of Order invaded Brellach to cripple the realm's army, and Staada was taken prisoner.[nb1] She was freed by Sheogorath's Champion and aided in the liberation of the stronghold. Although she perished with the other Golden Saints when the Wellspring of the Aureal was frozen by Order, they were revived when the Champion destroyed the crystals stopping the flow of chaotic creatia. Staada would then lead the Aureal to remove any remaining remnants of Order from their home, allowing them to resume their normal duties.[3]
Fourth EraEdit
Circa 4E 201, Staada manifested in Skyrim to protect the Shivering Isles from encroachment by a manic mage named Thoron, who had begun breaking down the barriers between that realm and Tamriel using the Sword of Jyggalag.[11] After the Last Dragonborn put an end to this threat by killing Thoron, Staada wrote to the Dragonborn to arrange a meeting.[12] She requested the item Thoron used as the focus of his rituals, although the details of this proposed exchange are unknown. Indeed, it is unknown if the Dragonborn made any trade at all with Staada, or whether they instead chose to bind and summon her using powerful Conjuration magic.[4]

NotesEdit
-
nb1This event only occurs if the player chooses to become the Duke/Duchess of Dementia during the Shivering Isles main quest. This will lead Duke Thadon to betray Sheogorath for the death of Syl. His betrayal led the Aureal to be caught off-guard, allowing for the invasion of Brellach. If the player instead chooses to become the Duke/Duchess of Mania , Syl will survive and attack the Mazken's home of Pinnacle Rock in retaliation for Thadon's death.
- Staada's five appearances make her tied with Uriel Septim VII for the most recurring character in the series, barring Daedric Princes.
