Pista Marillin

Pista Marillin is a gambling-addicted Imperial commoner who notionally waits tables at The King and Queen Tavern in the Imperial City Elven Gardens District.

Pista's gambling problem is evident by the fact that she spends most of her days placing wagers at the Arena. Every day at 7am she leaves the Tavern and heads to the arena, before sitting down at one of the gambling tables overlooking the fighters. She will stay here until 9pm, when Hundolin closes up for the day, and trek back to the inn. She will then walk around the tables, talking to the regulars for the rest of the evening. She is then meant to sleep between midnight and 6am, but never does due to a bug.

There are two exceptions to this routine. On the 4th of each month, she will exit the house at midnight and start her long trip to Leyawiin. She heads south on the Red Ring Road and follows it until she reaches Pell's Gate, then heads south on the Green Road. She will keep walking this road all the way to Leyawiin, on the way passing the city of Bravil around . This long trip takes her a whopping twenty six hours and she usually reaches her destination just before 3am on the following day. Once there, she will hit the Three Sisters' Inn and spend a day there, relaxing with the regulars. At midnight on the 6th, she'll leave the Inn and take the long trip back to the Imperial City and her usual routines. As with all traveling NPCs, she may be killed by any hostile encounters during her trip. During the Light the Dragonfires quest, Pista (like most Imperial City residents) is confined to her home.

She wears a set of middle-class clothing: a burgundy linen shirt, burgundy linens and a pair of russet felt shoes. She also has a small amount of gold.

DialogueEdit

If you first meet her in The King and Queen Tavern she will say,

"Welcome to The King and Queen Tavern. We treat all our patrons like royalty! I'm Pista Marillin, your faithful lady-in-waiting."

If you meet her in the Arena she will say,

"This is all so grisly and horrible, isn't it? The blood and bodies... But I've won so much money! I can't stop betting! I think I need help..."

If you ask her about the Imperial City she will say,

Imperial City
"Where can you find a bed in the City? I hear the Tiber Septim Hotel in Talos Plaza is very nice. In the Elven Gardens, Luther Broad's Boarding House may suit less discriminating customers. Fighters Guild has no accommodations in town. Mages Guild members have their own quarters at the Arcane University. I can't recommend the Bloated Float on the Waterfront. The Waterfront is not a very desirable location."

Unused DialogueEdit

Like many other publicans around Cyrodiil, Pista was at one point meant to have multiple topics related to the city she resided in. Two player-only topics still remain in the files:

I want to buy a horse.
Where can I sleep?

Her Imperial City topic response in the final game appears to be taken from the second topic.

BugsEdit

  • Pista was supposed to sleep from midnight until 6am, but there are no beds in the taproom, so she just wanders around all night.
  • Pista's routine was meant to be more varied and would have seen her visit the Market District from 9am to 6pm on Fredas and Loredas. However, she always first visits the Arena at 7am, and as that travel package's "Must Complete" flag is checked, it always takes precedence. As a result, she does not leave the Arena at 9am and instead stays until 9pm as on all other days. ?
  • Pista was supposed to play a role in the unfinished Imperial Express quest. At midday on the 28th of each month, as long as Shuravi was alive, Pista would have headed to the Black Horse Courier offices for a brief moment before returning to her regular schedule. As with the previous bug, however, her Arena visiting package will always take precedence. ?
