Detailed WalkthroughEdit
The intel provided by the councilors points to some place called ojel-bak. Councilor Lovidicus recognizes it as the name of a landmark in Sul-Xan territory: Eveli suggests you may find the vault there. She surmises Governor Keshu of Gideon might know more about it, as she knows these swamps by heart. Head to Gideon and speak with the governor in her mansion, which is next to Gideon's wayshrine. You'll find the Black Fin upstairs.
Keshu informs you that ojel-bak is a hole in the ground south of Stonewastes. She advises stealth, as the pit lies in the heart of Sul-Xan land, and they aren't keen on welcoming visitors. Head towards Stonewastes, which lies at the southern end of the swamp. As you approach the city of Rockgrove, head west into the bog to find Eveli. Talk to her, then proceed further west to find the ojel-bak. There, you'll find an odd Daedric structure and a Dremora named Lyranth. Speak with your extraplanar visitor.
Lyranth followed two Waking Flame scouts to find this vault: she killed one, but the other slipped away. You'll need to make this quick if you don't want to be swarmed by cultists. She identifies the book Eveli is carrying as the Mysterium Xarxes, and suggests that placing it on the pedestal in front of the vault is the first step in dispelling the ward.
Once the book is in place, three symbols will appear above it. Turn your attention to the three cubes in front of the structure and rotate them to match the symbols. The cube on the left needs to be turned three times, and the one in the center should be rotated twice. Much like its companion on the left, the cube on the right needs to be turned thrice. Once the correct combination is in place, you can enter Doomvault Capraxus.
Lyranth immediately teleports away to explore, leaving you and Eveli to progress on your own. Talk to Eveli and go over what you've learned so far, then traverse the angular halls of the Doomvault's interior. At the end of the first hall, you'll pass through a door that appears to lead to an exterior location. Here, the swamps of Blackwood meld with geometric Daedric structures and volcanic scenery. This world is cast beneath a scarlet sky. At the end of this path, you'll enter a chamber with another warded door.
Talk to Eveli and repeat the procedure from before. The cube on the left needs to be turned three times, the one in the center needs to be turned twice, and the one on the right requires three interactions. Once you get through the door, you'll find a raised drawbridge. Head through the passage to your right and find the switch. Throw it, and head back down to cross the bridge to continue your excursion, fighting or avoiding Daedra along the way.
Once you enter the Inner Vault Ward Chamber, you'll meet up with Lyranth, who needs you to dispel a ward designed to keep her out. Her insight reveals that the Doomvault was constructed in a way that enables it to behave like a pocket of Oblivion, where the Deadlands and Nirn coexist. She also informs you that Mehrunes Dagon seeks to merge Nirn with the Deadlands, his Daedric realm: the Prince believes that Nirn belongs to him. Lyranth speculates the "Ambitions" the Waking Flame seeks may be something that will assist him in achieving that goal.
You and Eveli need to perform the song and dance with the cubes again. This time, there are four symbols. Starting from the far left, the first ward cube needs to be turned three times, the second one needs to be turned twice, and the last two cubes require three rotations. Head through the door once the ward is down.
Inside the vault is a lot... homier than you might expect. You'll find two young Imperials dressed strangely, apparently siblings. The sister, named Calia, is painting a her brother Destron on a large canvas as he poses. Speak with them.

Neither of the siblings appear to know anything about the Ambitions, and confirm that there are no Daedric weapons in their home. Once you're finished talking to them, investigate the room. Destron's Journal lies on a dresser near a bed on the southeast side of the room. It seems the twins have been isolated for quite a while. You can also examine Calia's painting: she remarks that her brother has noticed improvement in her work. There's a curious Daedric totem just west of Calia and her easel that you can look at, as well. Lyranth notes that it appears to venerate Mehrunes Dagon. It seems this vault was built to protect the twins, who refer to this place as their sanctum.
Once you've investigated all three points of interest, Eveli calls from outside: the Waking Flame is here. Lyranth tells you to assist the Wood Elf while she evacuates the red-haired twins. Meet Eveli in the deep vaults out the door on the south end of the sanctum. Portals opened around her during your investigation, heralding a flood of cultists. She killed a good chunk of them, but more escaped further into the vaults. You need to stop them before they find the Ambitions.
Sinestrix Iribia blocks the way forward in the armory ahead. Defeat her and continue your search for other cultists deeper in the vault. Further ahead, the twins have been cornered by cultists.
- Destron: "Stay back! I'm warning you …."
- Waking Flame Cultist: "Nonsense, child. You are an Ambition! The high priest has great plans for you."
- Calia: "Destron, what should we do?"
- Destron: "Exactly what we were trained to do!"
- <Lightning bursts out of Destron, killing all of the cultists.>
- Eveli Sharp-Arrow: "Um … I think we may have found those weapons …."
Talk to the twins.

Now that the twins have agree to come with you, you'll need to speak with Eveli and Lyranth to figure out what to do with your new charges. They don't seem to have any experience with the outside world. Eveli is committed to protecting them, and suggests you take them to Gideon. Lyranth, on the other hand, is leaving to continue her investigation. It's clear that the twins are the Ambitions, but she'd like to know how exactly they were granted their apparently Daedric power. She has a few leads to follow: it's up to you and Eveli to protect the twins and deal with Vandacia.
Return to Gideon and inform Governor Keshu of your findings, then talk to Eveli to close out the quest.
Quest StagesEdit

) is dynamically set by the game and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game.
- Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
- Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
