Scorch: Stir a group of shalk that attack after 3 seconds, dealing [6641 / 6713 / 6786 / 6859] Magic Damage to enemies in front of you. After the shalk complete their attack, they burrow underground for 6 seconds and then resurface again, dealing [9224 / 9325 / 9427 / 9528] Magic Damage to enemies in front of you.
Subterranean Assault: Cost: 2066 Stamina, Duration: 6 seconds.
Stir a group of shalk that attack after 3 seconds, dealing [6860 / 6936 / 7011 / 7086] Poison Damage to enemies in front of you. After the shalk complete their attack, they burrow underground for 3 seconds and then resurface again, dealing [6860 / 6936 / 7011 / 7086] Poison Damage to enemies in front of you.
Deep Fissure: Stir a group of shalk that attack after 3 seconds, dealing [6860 / 6936 / 7011 / 7086] Magic Damage to enemies in front of you. After the shalk complete their attack, they burrow underground for 6 seconds and then resurface again, dealing [9529 / 9634 / 9739 / 9844] Magic Damage to enemies in front of you. Enemies damaged are afflicted with Major and Minor Breach, reducing their Physical and Spell Resistance by 5948 and 2974 for 10 seconds.

Scorch summons a group of Shalk to attack your enemies. The spell triggers after a 3 second delay, and deals Magic Damage to all enemies in a rectangular area in front of you. The Shalk then burrow and attack again after another 6 second delay dealing greater damage. The Subterranean Assault morph changes the ability to a Stamina cost, the damage to Poison Damage and reduces the delay and damage of the second attack, while the Deep Fissure morph applies Major and Minor Breach.

NotesEdit

  • It's important to pay attention to the 3 second delay on this spell. While in one sense it can be helpful as it allows you to cast before engaging the enemy and gives you time to line it up with other attacks, it can be a problem if you try to cast it again too quickly. Casting the spell again before it has triggered will simply cancel the first casting, and thus waste resources.
  • Deep Fissure is a recommended morph for the Warden Initiate and Beast Caller builds, while Subterranean Assault is recommended for Savage Stalker.

Patch NotesEdit

  • In an effort to reduce the visual effect noise in group combat situations, we've hidden most visual effects from persistent damaging area of effect abilities cast by your allies. Area of effect abilities that have a synergy, healing, or defensive component that can benefit you will still be visible, and area of effect abilities cast by enemies will also still be visible.
  • Subterranean Assault: This morph can now be cast while you are silenced.
  • Deep Fissure: This morph no longer stuns the closest enemy hit. It now applies Major Breach to all enemies hit for 5 seconds.
    • Developer Comments: In the same vein that snare abilities should either be short and powerful or long and weak, abilities should be low damage and CC, or high damage and no CC.
  • Subterranean Assault: This morph no longer applies Major Breach to enemies hit – it only applies Major Fracture. The duration of Major Fracture has been reduced to 5 seconds, down from 10 seconds.
  • Reduced the cost of this ability and its morphs by approximately 25%.
  • This ability and its morphs can now be blocked.
  • Fixed an issue where the damage from this ability and its morphs could fail to be recognized as Direct Damage in some instances.
  • Subterranean Assault (morph):
    • This morph no longer applies Fracture, as Deep Fissure now affects all Armor.
    • This ability now recasts itself after completing, once per cast.
  • Deep Fissure (morph): Increased the duration of Major Breach granted from this morph to 10 seconds, up from 6 seconds.
  • Deep Fissure (morph): This morph now also applies Minor Breach to enemies hit for the duration.
  • This ability and the Deep Fissure morph now last for 9 seconds in total, detonating once after 3 seconds and again 6 seconds after that, rather than only once every 3 seconds.
  • These abilities now hit with 2 unique damage sources – the first hit deals approximately 20% less damage. The second hit does 38% more damage when compared to the new base value.
  • Increased the cost to 2700, up from 2430, now that they can potentially cost significantly less per cast if you let their full durations ride out.
    • Subterranean Assault (morph):
      • This morph continues to reduce the time it takes for the second hit to go off, but this second hit does not gain the extra damage.
      • This morph retains its cost of 2066.
      • Reduced this morph's damage by the 20% reduction of the base ability.
    • Developer Comment: The changes to Scorch and their morphs were done in attempts to try and help the class feel less intensely focused on buff management and allow for other actions in combat, while still trying to retain their burst-oriented nature, to a more balanced degree when comparing them to other burst skills and taking their total time before impact better into account. By separating the damage, we can also better allow the skill to function as a burst skill or a sustained DPS skill, where recasting it earlier will result in more total DPS, whereas waiting for the bigger explosion will result in those dopamine printing burst combos.
  • Fixed an issue with this ability and its morphs where they could fail to hit larger monsters in some cases.
