Tori Schafer stated in an interview that "From the very get-go in Elder Scrolls Online, it was decided that LGBT+ characters were a part of that universe and they were just accepted by their society as to not alienate LGBT+ players who may be playing Elder Scrolls Online and also just because we wanted representation to be, you know, able to be put in the game very easily, I think, and a lot of characters to identify is that without worrying about societal repercussions."
