When you find Sage Odana, you will find Knudikur's unconscious body alongside several other unconscious skalds.
When you need to learn the Song of Sinmur, you will have to find his dream vision in the Skald library where he will teach you a line to the Song of Sinmur. It appears that he has a nightmare of his father's abuse:
- "No, father, please. Don't beat me! I'll learn the song!"
- I won't hurt you. What song?
- "I've … I've got a performance tomorrow. The Song of Sinmur. In front of everyone. Have to be ready!"
- Don't worry. Here, practice on me. Sing me a line.

Speaking to him again after learning the line:

Speaking to him again after learning the song and before meeting up with Sage Odana:

While you are defending Maraamur while he's playing the Song of Sinmur, Knudikur's dream vision will appear to support the skald.
Once you succeeded in driving off Vaermina's forces, Knudikur will be awake.
