A local scholar made the unpleasant discovery that a terrible creature of legend known as the Shademother is very much real and currently working unholy magic around Morthal.
Quick WalkthroughEdit
- (Optional) Talk to Koljir Loreseeker.
- Defeat Shademother, and cleanse the three pools of corruption with the Cleansing Concoction.
- Talk to Hidaver in Solitude.
Detailed WalkthroughEdit
The Swords of Solitude need a hand. A local scholar has learned of an ancient hagraven who is attempting to corrupt the river near Morthal. Hidaver would like you to destroy the hagraven and cleanse the pools of corruption in the river with a solution given to the Swords by the client.
Head to the Shademother's Haven, which is located southwest of Morthal. There's a pool of corruption northeast of the Shademother, and two further southwest up the river. Kill the Shademother, cleanse her corruption, and return to Hidaver in Solitude to be rewarded when you're finished.
NotesEdit
- If the player is in a group and two (or potentially more) players cleanse the same pool of corruption at the same time, both actions will count towards both players' totals.
BugsEdit
- If the player is in a group and not near Shademother's Haven when another group member cleanses one of the pools of corruption, it will not count for the player and will not respawn for them either. ?
- To fix, drop the quest and pick it up again. Alternatively if there are still pools remaining get two or more group members to use one of them at the same time.

- Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
- Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
