This quest is only available during the New Life Festival |
<><><>
The New Life Festival is celebrated across Tamriel and all are welcome to join in. I should find out more about this celebration.
Quick WalkthroughEdit
Detailed WalkthroughEdit
Starting the EventEdit
Before 2020 the quest was started by claiming the free New Life Festival Scroll from the Crown Store and reading it. The scroll could be found in your inventory in the Miscellaneous section (on PC) or the Supplies section (on console), and had the following text.
- <A simple map directs revelers to Breda, a New Life Herald in Eastmarch. There is a small note scrawled on the map.>
- "All are welcome to celebrate the New Life Festival!"
- I should find Breda in Eastmarch.
From 2020, claiming the Event Starter from the Crown Store automatically starts the quest. Additionally, "Gateway to the New Life Festival" portals will be opened at the Event Exchanges which teleport you straight to the Kynesgrove Wayshrine near the New Life Pavilion Tent.
Head to the revelers' tent, just south of Windhelm, and talk to Breda:
- "You're here for the New Life Festival? I'm happy to serve as a herald. I can tell you all you need to know!"
- What is the New Life Festival?
- "It marks a fresh start to the new year, for all who walk beneath the sun. Everyone in Tamriel celebrates!
Well, perhaps not the Maormer—but everyone else. You should try it for yourself and see!" - I'm interested. Tell me more about it.
- "The New Life Festival was once a celebration of Magnus, the sun god. I have a book—you're welcome to read about the history, if you care to.
But I'd rather tell you about the celebrations. Very few involve a chance of paper cuts!" - "Celebrations?" There are more than one?
- "Of course! They're different all over. I've taken part in cliff jumping, anchor tossing, and even drunken echatere racing … though Orsinium had to cancel that one.
Simply ask, and I'll send you to the best celebrations in Tamriel!"
For people completing the quest for the first time, you will receive Breda's Bottomless Mead Mug.
CelebrationsEdit
Having introduced you to the event, Breda will then offer a number of repeatable quests to celebrate the New Life Festival with the different cultures of Tamriel. Each quest can be completed once a day and will earn you a New Life Festival Box. Additionally, from 2019 the first event daily quest also earns you Event Tickets. Each Gift Box contains a guaranteed sample of Wolfsbane Incense, as well as a selection of other rewards related to the New Life Festival. Each year, new items are added while some are retired.
For a full list of items, see the main page.
Completing all nine activities unlocks the "New Life Cerulean" dye.
NotesEdit
- Like Ache For Cake, a different version of this quest is available each year.
- Originally this quest rewarded asome gold and a New Life Festival Box in addition to Breda's Bottomless Mead Mug.
- Breda's Bottomless Mead Mug used to be a Memento/Tool which could be activated to net you double XP for two hours. The keg located near Breda could also be drank from. Since 2023, this XP buff is applied at all times while logged in during the event rather than needing to be repeatedly applied.

- Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
- Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
