Detailed WalkthroughEdit
While approaching Dwynnarth Ruins, you may be approached by Corporal Adel, who will direct you to Provost Piper if you would like to assist him with an assignment. The camp is located northwest of the ruins, with the provost underneath. Like Adel mentioned, a Red Rook messenger was captured, and Provost Piper believes that it is evidence of an alliance with the Bloodthorn cult. The messenger doesn't want to talk, however, so you are tasked to do so.
The messenger will mention that his family is being held hostage. You can intimidate him, or you can listen to his plight. If you decide to listen, he will tell you that the Red Rooks are using his family as ransom due to him not willingly joining them. They are located in an abandoned house south of the camp, surrounded by Red Rook forces. When inside the house, talk to his wife and the two of them will both return to the camp.
Whether you intimidated him into disclosing the information, or rescued his family for him, he will tell you what he knows about the alliance— or, rather, the beginnings of an alliance. Apparently, the agreements between them are rocky at best, so you can easily cause them to turn on one another. He suggests you wear a disguise and attack the Bloodthorn Cultists' envoy.
When going against Envoy Caoiss, the whole area of Dwynnarth Ruins is full of Bloodthorn cultists. However, since the Bloodthorns and Red Rooks have made an alliance with one another, you can disguise yourself as a Red Rook or a Bloodthorn to go straight to Envoy Caoiss without attacking any of the Bloodthorns. Envoy Caoiss will be at the center of the Dwynnarth Ruins, accompanied by a few Bloodthorns— when engaged, you will have to fight both him and the Bloodthorns.
Envoy Caoiss: "Bloodthorns! The Red Rooks has broken the alliance!"
After defeating Envoy Caoiss, return to Provost Piper to receive your reward.
NotesEdit
- Corporal Adel can be found in at least 5 different places to start the quest, most of them in a line between Cambray Pass and Burial Tombs Wayshrine.
BugsEdit
- Caioss will proclaim that the Red Rooks betrayed them, and the objective will still count as completed when killing him, without you needing to wear the disguise. ?
Quest StagesEdit
<Alias=LocationHold>
) is dynamically set by the game and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game.
- Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
- Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
