Detailed WalkthroughEdit

Lloris will tell you that one of the Temple faithful, a smith named Jalor Indo, has fallen ill, and will send you to him with a Potion of Cure Common Disease.

Jalor can be found on market bridge, on the west side of Almas Thirr. Upon talking to him, he will mention something is wrong with his lungs. You can immediately offer him the potion, but it will do him no good. Further questioning will reveal that his symptoms worsen when at home, and he will give you a key to investigate.

You will immediately feel nauseated upon entering Jalor's house. Upon closer investigation, you will notice some suspicious powder in his forge, which appears to be the source of his illness. You might also notice an order from Irnami Silsi near his bed.

Jalor will be happy to be free of his illness, but will want the matter investigated. You may refuse to investigate further, but you forfeit the scroll reward. Jalor will mention that only two people have had access to his workshop, an Indoril courier delivering an order from Commander Silsi, and a Hlaalu hireling who had a steel halberd made. Showing suspicion toward the Indoril courier will irritate Jalor, but he will readily go along with a baseless accusation of the Hlaalu hireling, Calitia.

If you have named her as suspicious to Jalor, then you can question Calitia about the toxic powder. She is only a few steps away on the market platform. There are three methods to make her confess:

  • If your Speechcraft is above 35, you can catch her in a lie claiming to know nothing about the powder in the forge.
  • If your Speechcraft is above 50, you can convince her that you will have her questioned by the Ordinators.
  • If you have seen the weapons and armor order sitting in the workshop, you can suggest that she saw it and accuse her of murder.

Regardless of how you obtain the confession, its content is the same: Calitia admits that she saw the order from Commander Silsi, and added the homemade powder to the forge to make any metal worked in the forge brittle and useless; being a poor alchemist, she failed to foresee the toxic effects. She asks for forgiveness, and asks you to deliver 100 gold as reparations to Jalor.

Jalor will refuse the money, and demand justice from either you or Commander Silsi. You can tell Commander Silsi, located in the Indoril Garrison on the east side of town, who says she will make sure Calitia is punished. Alternatively, if you talk to Lloris, she will plead with you not to disturb the fragile peace in Almas Thirr, and to let it go to prevent an all out House war. Telling Silsi, either through defiance or reporting first to the Commander will cause Lloris's disposition towards you to drop, although this can be (temporarily) avoided by lying to her.

NotesEdit

  • Lloris will eventually find out your lie, although you will not lose as much disposition for lying as telling Silsi before Lloris or (especially) outright defiance.

Quest StagesEdit

The following Journal ID and Index codes can be used with the Journal console command to manually update the quest to a certain point.

Healing Jalor Indo (TR_m3_TT_Lloris1)
Index Finishes Quest Journal Entry
10 Lloris Dalan asked me to heal Jalor Indo, a smith who has apparently fallen ill. I can find Indo outside on the market bridge in the western part of Almas Thirr. Dalan gave me a disease curing potion that I should give to Indo.
20 It seems that Jalor Indo suffers from something more resilient than a common disease. He is still feeling unwell. Indo gave me the key to his house. Perhaps there is something there that's making him ill.
30 I found suspicious-looking powder in Jalor Indo's hearth. No doubt the nauseating fumes rising from the fireplace were the reason behind Jalor's sickness. I should let him know that the problem has been dealt with.
40 Jalor Indo thanked me for finding out what was making him sick. Now that the toxic fumes in his workshop are gone, he is expecting to recover from his ailment. However, a mystery still remains as to who put the powder in his forge. I should question Indo or search his workshop some more for clues.
50 Jalor Indo thanked me for finding out what was making him sick. Now that the toxic fumes in his workshop are gone, he is expecting to recover from his ailment. I've done my duty. I should go back to Lloris Dalan.
60 Jalor Indo told me that Calitia, a House Hlaalu hireling, visited his workshop some days ago. I should have a word with her. She is often running errands for the Hlaalu here in the market quarter.
70 Calitia denied knowing anything about the toxic powder in Jalor Indo's house.
80 Calitia admitted putting the powder in Jalor Indo's blacksmith's forge. However, she said that her intention was not to harm Jalor. She thought that the powder would make all the weapons and armor made in the forge brittle. Calitia gave me 100 drakes and told me to give them to Jalor Indo with her apologies.
90 Jalor Indo refused to accept Calitia's money. He wants her to be punished. Jalor Indo told me to go speak with Commander Silsi of the Indoril garrison. Since the Temple upholds the law here in Almas Thirr, I should perhaps consult Lloris Dalan about this matter first.
100 Lloris Dalan thinks that punishing Calitia could provoke House Hlaalu into retaliating against House Indoril. Because the Temple wants to uphold the fragile peace between the two Great Houses, Dalan said that Irnami Silsi shouldn't be told what happened with Jalor Indo and Calitia. I must decide what to do.
120 I let commander Irnami Silsi of the Indoril garrison know that Calitia tried to sabotage the weapons and armor order and also poisoned Jalor Indo in the process. She thanked me for the information and assured me that House Indoril would find a way to punish Calitia.
200 Finishes quest  I agreed not to tell commander Irnami Silsi about what happened to Jalor Indo. Lloris Dalan was glad to hear about my decision. She gave me a copy of Ruhn Ania Almsivi, a Temple hymn, as a reward. I should ask her about new duties.
225 Finishes quest  I lied to Lloris Dalan, telling her that I hadn't told commander Silsi about what happened to Jalor Indo. She believed me. She gave me a copy of Ruhn Ania Almsivi, a Temple hymn, as a reward. I should ask her about new duties.
250 Finishes quest  Lloris Dalan was furious at me for telling Irnami Silsi about Calitia's sabotage and Jalor Indo's poisoning. She fears that this might lead to an escalation of the conflict between the two Great Houses and cause bloodshed in Almas Thirr.
300 Finishes quest  Lloris Dalan thanked me for helping Jalor Indo. I should ask her about new duties.
Healing Jalor Indo (TR_m3_TT_Lloris1b)
100 I found a document in Jalor Indo's house according to which House Indoril has ordered a significant number of weapons and armor from Jalor Indo.
200 I mentioned the order of weapons and armor from Irnami Silsi of House Indoril. Jalor Indo doesn't think House Indoril is behind the powder in his house.
Healing Jalor Indo (TR_m3_TT_Lloris1c)
100 Lloris Dalan was furious at me for killing Calitia. She won't give me any duties, until I've given her 1000 septims which she will in turn offer as bloodmoney to House Hlaalu.
