Joran is a Nord Barbarian in the employ of the Zafirbel Bay Company in Helnim. Until recently he was affiliated with the local Fighters Guild, and Hartise will ask you to recruit him back into it.
Joran has (perhaps understandably) grown disillusioned with the Fighters Guild's usual clientele in Helnim - to wit, one Nisa Darythi, an increasingly senile wizard of Great House Telvanni. He is simply seeking a quiet, and broadly safe job with an employer less likely to get him killed. You can ultimately offer him this, in which case he will move over to work for Lariast Batalle at his store in town.
