My character is constantly glowing.
I noticed that when I bring up my inventory, my character looks like there is a bright light shining on him. And when I try to rotate or zoom it starts lagging like crazy. It's not a huge deal, but I was wondering A) if I did something to cause this, and B) if there is any way to stop it. Thanks a lot.— Unsigned comment by 69.230.166.69 (talk) on 5 January 2010
Evil Character
So I wanna create a character that is badass. Kills everyone, steals everything, and is near impossible to kill. My question is if anyone could tell me in what order to do certain quests if I want this goal. For example, the Dark Brotherhood sounds like something this character would join, but if I get too many infamy points then I can't join the Fighters Guild and get all the benefits of their weapons and armor. I wanted to know what birthsign or skills would be good for a character like this that charges in and kills and also sneaks at times. When it comes to leveling, I am kinda confused as to wether or not being a high level is better than a low level so I would like to know which would be better for this type of character. Also, the character is going to be a female argonian who will use mainly blunt weapons.
P.S. I plan on joining certain guilds and then eventually when I reach the highest rank killing off all the members and looting them since technically I can't be kicked out. My goal is to eventually kill most if not all living things in the game, leaving only corpses in each city. Ofcourse some NPCs can only be killed after certain missions and some can't ever be killed I think but the closest I am to that goal the better.
- First of all, infamy points don't affect your ability to join the Fighter's guild, so you can join both. For your character, I'd probably recommend either the Warrior or the Thief birthsign, depending on whether you want to be more stealthy or melee oriented. For your class I'd say blunt, possibly marksman, sneak, light armor, security, and any other skills that sound nice. As for the leveling system, it's better to be a high level for you purposes because villagers and guards don't level up with you for the most part. Also, even if you reach the highest rank in some guilds, killing members can still get you expelled, and guards will always respawn. Hope that helps ;) --Mptrj - ♠ - ♣ 21:52, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
- Wrong, infamy does affect the fighter's guild quests. "It is a good idea to join the Fighters Guild early in the game if you plan to play an evil character, because they do not allow characters with an Infamy score of 100 or greater to join, unless you also have 100 or more Fame." right from the page. I you are evil, wouldn't you just steal the weapons, anaway? You could of course just join, do no quests, and be free to take all the armor you want76.120.200.30 22:11, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
- Just to add something to what Mptrj said, regarding the skills, your best choices are Sneak and Illusion. Also you can aid your attacks with the Marksman skill and it is even more deadly when coupled with custom poisons (for that you need Alchemy). Those are the best skills for a stealth-based character, but you could also add some other skills like Acrobatics or Destruction to help you finish a strong enemy quickly. Oh and about the infamy, you don't need to worry about that, what you can do is to finish the Thieves Guild questline first to get the Gray Cowl of Nocturnal and then use it when you're doing something that would make you gain infamy. --MC• S'drassa •T2M 22:14, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
- Of course, doing the Thieves guild quests will give you infamy also :) -- Jplatinum16 22:56, 5 January 2010 (UTC)

Hand to Hand
I'm a newb to Elder Scrolls so i hope this isn't a dumb question. In Oblivion my hand to hand skill is stuck at 25 and even when i punched the lights out of a horse it just won't go up! I thought it might have something to do with the fist icon and the number next to it but not sure. Any help would be great as it's making it hard to efficiently level up.-Tjam84 — Unsigned comment by Tjam84 (talk • contribs) on 16 January 2009
- Hand to Hand always takes a long time to level. Is the red bar next to the number 25 increasing? If so, just keep going a bit longer. If not, there's something wrong. rpeh •T•C•E• 12:19, 16 January 2010 (UTC)

- Did you, by chance, witness the two combatants parry at the Imperial City Arena? That would have given you a skill boost of 5 levels, and without the patch there is a bug associated with it, so it would appear as you skill progress is frozen. The official patch fixes the skill increase issue, but for now I'd suggest keep practicing the skill, as eventually it will progress again. --Timenn-<talk> 12:28, 16 January 2010 (UTC)
Afterlife
Well, I hope I'm putting this question in the right place, because it seems no one else's is like this one...but whatever... Ok, so I have been an Elder Scrolls fan for quite some time now, and I've really read into the lore and I love it, But there is on thing I can seem to find; I want information on the "lore side" on the Elder Scrolls afterlife. Mistress Dratha
I just randomly noticed this in the game, I've been playing for a few years, but, I couldn't find a way to post a small improvement and if this isn't right I apologize. I'm on the Morrowind xbox goty version but it threw me so here it goes. Mistress Dratha [labeled "Dratha"] does not recognize herself as Mistress Dratha, when that subject is selected during speech she responds "She is my Patron, and I am her Mouth on the council. If you have personal buisness with her, you may find her in Tel Mora"..but again it is her. -It is your corrupt I claim- 08:43, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
Strange Colored Ex-Vampire Nord
I hope I'm doing this right... I've had a small issue concerning my character on ES3:Oblivion for the Xbox 360. I started the game around 12/9/09 and everything was fine. I caught Porphyric Hemophilia (Vampirism) about two weeks in the game. I had it for about one month game time and aquired 100% vampirism a few times, feeding as needed. I did the very long Vampire's Cure quest to cure it and was rid of the disease. I noticed that, after I finished the quest and from then on, my character's body was very dark colored. His neck was blue and his body was blackish purple. I didn't know if that was the system or not so I made a female nord, as my character in question is a male nord, and the female character had normal skin color. It's been a few months since the vampirism. Is there a way to fix it? (76.0.203.4 22:54, 7 April 2010 (UTC))

How do you place items in display cases?
I am having problems placing items into the empty display cases at my PC-owned residences. Both at Battlehorn and Rosethorn, I do not get any options to transfer items to the case like you would w/ a chest, and if I attempt to "drop" an item from my inventory into a display case, the item simply falls to the floor next to the case??? Is this a glitch, or am I just doing something wrong?65.25.238.4 16:43, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
- No, see you drop the item, open the case and use the key/button that lets you move the object in the game world. Then move nto the case in the desired position and close it.--Corevette789 16:46, 23 May 2010 (UTC)

Sigil Stones in Frostcrag Spire
Something very odd has occured in the vault section of my Frostcrag Spire. As some of you may know, if you look through the ice floor you may be able to see a small chamber encased in ice. Lately, I've heard the humming of sigil stones in my vault with no apparent source. One day I became a little more curious and tried to follow the sound. I found that the sound was coming from the area encased in ice, beneath the vault. When I look through the ice, I can see literally dozens of sigil stones in their "floating" state. I play Oblivion on the Xbox360, so I can't use the tcl command to investigate more closely. No glitches are cause by this, and the game does not slow down at all, but I was just wondering if anybody knew how the stones are getting there? If it helps at all, I have used the Frostcrag Spire exploit to obtain Sigil Stones on this file. Is there a connection there? Thanks much. 205.209.76.83 01:29, 16 June 2010 (UTC)Prince Water

Question about telekinesis in Oblivion
Hello there!
I just created my account with UESP.net, so this is the first question I've posted.
It seems that I am unable to use telekinesis in Oblivion (for 360). My mysticism skill leaves a lot to be desired, so I am attempting to use the effect via scrolls. I have two kinds of telekinesis scrolls, one more powerful than the other. As far as I can tell, I'm not doing anything wrong: I select the scroll (Movement Mastery), then back away 15 ft. or so, point at one of my own swords I've dropped on the ground so that its name and stats appear in the lower right corner of the screen in red-orange text, then cast the spell. My guy does the 'arm thing' like usual and I get the purple light and sound effect, but when I touch the joysticks or the triggers, the object doesn't move. I thought it might be due to 'resist magic' or 'absorb magic' or some similar active effect on my character, so I stripped my guy down to his skivvies (although I probably only needed to unequip the Gray Aegis shield, as it was the only 'anti-magic' active effect I had at the time). The spell still doesn't do anything. I realize that telekinesis has no practical use for combat (unless we're talking about mods or something), and I definitely don't need it to aid me in thievery, but it looks like a really cool effect regardless. Am I missing something here? Is there some bug that I don't know about?
(Don't know if this matters, but I am a level 40 Nord, custom class.)
--Warlord714 00:51, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
- Yes. It seems to be a bug, although it's not mentioned on UESP. It affects me on PC and I'm a Level 37 Breton. Telekinesis will very often misfire for no apparent reason. When it does, the target is your weapon or a random piece of your armour, which does nothing but briefly glow pink. This is most easily seen when you're in third-person mode. I think the game is somehow confusing Telekinesis with Disintegrate Armor/Weapon. The "bug" makes Telekinesis scrolls essentially useless since they can only be cast once and are highly likely to simply fail. The best solution is to use a Telekinesis spell instead as it can be cast over and over until it finally "catches". --h8ball 21:45, 27 August 2010 (UTC)

Is There a Way to Reset My Character?
My character is a Khajiit, the class is a Knight. I chose Knight because it was the class that was suggested at the beginning of the game, and I really had no idea what I was doing at the time. Now that I've played the game for a good 30 hours, I realize that I would rather have made a custom class that would be more fitting for a member of the Thieves Guild and the Dark Brotherhood.
I used the "cheat code" for making the Class Menu appear and created my custom class. However, upon applying it to my character I found that my skills and attributes had taken a turn for the worse, and in general I mucked about for an hour or so in an attempt to get the best combination possible, ultimately wiping out an hour's worth of play and ending up where I started. It was really frustrating.
Now I'm wondering if there's a way I can reset my character to level one with a new class, while keeping my saved games intact. As in, is there a way for me to basically create a new character without totally restarting the game? (I highly doubt there is, but I thought I might as well ask.) 4.242.150.203 16:48, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

Excuse Me
Hi, I'm new to this site, and I've gotta say, it's impressive-- I normally go to a Wiki that is exclusively for TES4, and it does a fine job, but this just... blows that wiki out of the water!
Anyways, I dunno if this'll get read soon or not, but I need to ask: How exactly is someone supposed to roleplay within Oblivion's universe? I understand the desire to immerse yourself into the universe, but... how can somebody do it when there aren't any other PCs to RP with?! Don't you guys think that's a bit... I dunno, bland to be RPing in the game while all you have to work with are scripted NPCs?
Or maybe it's different for you guys since you all can mod your games on the PC to give yourselves new experiences, while I'm using the Xbox 360 GOTY Edition of Oblivion, and I don't have access to Xbox Live (LOOONG story) so I can't get any of the plug-ins. Anyways, if you can explain this sort of thing to me, I'd appreciate it, because I've tried a few of the things you suggested (like being a Pirate), and well... it's simply not fun RPing when you're the only PC in the game, y'know?
Thanks,
Billy
P.S. I actually found this site when I was looking for Oblivion RPs on the Internet-- I just assumed that the RP you guys meant at first (before I read about the stuff) was on an online forum-- that's the kind of RP I'm used to-- hell, I've even done an Oblivion RP on one of the forums I normally visit. It died pretty quickly though, which is a shame. — Unsigned comment by Borran Tenirius (talk • contribs) at 00:36 on 14 September 2010
- Guess you were referring to the OblivioWiki. Glad to see that you found UESP. Sorry about the mess at the OblivioWiki, but I gradually developed a dislike for Wikia and its new format. You may roleplay in the game in whichever matter you deserve. It's an open-ended game (but Morrowind provides more freedom), so you can pretty much do whatever you wish. I suggest that you play some MMO's, since single-player games don't seem to satisfy you. I don't really roleplay in games, and The Elder Scrolls has more to do with exploring unique terrains and cultures than providing a means to roleplay. --Michaeldsuarez (Talk) (Deeds) 16:46, 14 September 2010 (UTC)
-
- People roleplay in single-player games for different reasons. For me, I don't get into it as much as is described on the Roleplaying pages usually — it's mostly about trying out different styles of character and challenging myself to break common playing patterns and see how else the game can be played. For example, I almost always rely on Night-Eye to see in the dark, which leads to a vast under-appreciation of the dungeons and wilderness (at least at night), since everything is cast in blue. To force myself out of that, I decided that my current character would be afraid of the dark and disparaging of stealth, so he uses light spells and permanent light effects any time he's forced into a dungeon, and tries to avoid travelling at night at all. I don't always like the things I try, but they do give me an appreciation for what other people enjoy about the game that I normally wouldn't experience. It also helps to break me out of the "same quest, different day" mould, since I'm forced to re-evaluate how to do some of them based on the role or character type I'm playing. – Robin Hood↝talk 19:50, 14 September 2010 (UTC)
-
-
- Ah, I see what you guys mean. So, the whole backstory thing is nothing more than what you decide to put in your head? Cool, never really thought of it in such a way. And I've tried to play MMOs-- the first was this game called Sherwood, it was free-to-play. I didn't get too into it. Second, I tried World of Warcraft... I played for five minutes, and never went back. Finally there was Lord of the Rings Online...
-
-
-
- ...well, I can't actually download an MMO that actually costs to play (I live with my grandparents and money is tight, so I can't afford to download a game that my grandparents don't know about-- and they already think I spend too much time on the computer as it is, though that's been cut down by default due to school). Anyway, I tried to download a trial version of LOTRO, right? That took six hours-- SIX! And then, I dunno whether I needed the actual retail disc to play it or anything, so when it said "Thank you for buying Lord of the Rings Online's game disc" or whatever, I freaked out and deleted all the data for it, making sure to clean out the recycle bin afterwards.
-
-
-
- So, although I'd probably like to play an MMO, I can't really... or at least not those that are any good. So, I suppose I'm out of luck. On the other hand, perhaps there's a way I can get TES4 on the PC for free? If you guys could help me with that, I'd sure be grateful-- I hate that I'm missing out on all the plug-ins and mods, and like I say, money is tight for my family, so it's not like I can do some online shopping... or maybe I can, but I'd have to ask my grandparents first, and they'd REALLY discourage me buying a game online. *sigh* — Unsigned comment by Borran Tenirius (talk • contribs) at 20:40 on 14 September 2010
-
-
-
-
- Yes, the whole backstory is entirely about how you decide to play your character, although as you mentioned in your original post, if you're on the PC, you can actually mod the game to add more to it than that. As for getting a free copy, there's no legal way for you to get a free copy of TES4 other than getting someone to give it to you. The legality of someone giving you a copy that they're done with is dubious, but that might be your best bet, unless you have friends who enjoy buying you new games for no reason. :) – Robin Hood↝talk 20:55, 14 September 2010 (UTC)

- LULZ I wish... *sigh* Maybe someday soon I'll be able to, but I dunno. Oh, I'm surprised the fabled Elder Scrolls MMO has virtually... like, no info. Maglir
Hi! I'm playng Oblivion w/ the GOTY edition on XBOX 360, and currently have Maglir in tow for the Den of Thieves quest. I decided to take advantage of his essential character status to have an "immortal" assistant in clearing some dungeons, which works great. Only problem is that his equipment degrades and no longer functions--is there any way to get his stuff to "reboot" so his cuirass, etc., are back to full armor class strength? Just leaving him at the fighter's guild for a while doesn't seem to accomplish this. I'm not able to pickpocket his items to repair them because they can't be put back on his person... Any suggestions? Thanks! M — Unsigned comment by 65.114.142.53 (talk) at 17:03 on 4 October 2010
- Reverse pickpocket some Bound Armor onto him. See OB:Glitches for more on how to get said armor.--Ghurhak gro-Demril or TAOYes? 17:17, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

Huge and Small Items
I have been playing TESIV for a short time (PC version) and have found this wiki to be invaluable - thanx to all those involved.
I am wondering about certain items as there seems to be sets of some item types that consist of very large and very small sizes of the same item. For example, I found a huge (actually humungous) silver urn with two very small urns of the same design. In a castle, I found (apparently on display in the dining room) three silver pitchers, one huge, one normal and one very small. The items were of interest and I grabbed a set of pitchers, but they show in the inventory as 3 silver pitchers and when I dropped them to set up a display, they were all the same size. And Yes I stole them.
I ask as I am wondering if these items are supposed to be so large (or small) or if my game is just running strangely or is it possible some mod I'm running is causing this? If these items do exist in the game, how is one supposed to keep them at the size they were when taken (all that I have seen are in someone's property and thus tagged with a red hand)? Also, if they are supposed to and do exist in various sizes, I have not seen any mention of them in the wiki anywhere and it would be nice to know if anyone has a list of where these items exist in order to collect them. 67.225.30.153 16:58, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
- Most of the time, I believe the inventory retains the memory of the original item size, but I know sometimes when you stack them, it'll lose that information. I think it might be if you sell it to a fence and re-buy it. If you want to be 100% safe, steal them one at a time and take them to where you want them. I can't recall that ever having failed for me.
- The reason we don't have a list of the various item sizes is that the size can be adjusted for every single item in the game. Most are at their default size, but there are a lot of things like dishes/cutlery, plants, books, etc., where large numbers of them are scaled to different sizes. – Robin Hood↝talk 23:01, 10 October 2010 (UTC)

- Yep. Not stacking works. I've stolen at least one planter that was close to the size of my character and brought it back to my house so it works fine to take them one at a time.--Ghurhak gro-Demril or TAOYes? 23:13, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
Thanks this helps a lot.198.169.65.1 16:15, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
I went back and experimented with this phenomena in a number of configurations and situations and found- Stacking in inventory seems to be the worst at resizing the items to the same (normal) size. It doesn't seem to be consistent as it may or may not resize the items, but stacking seemed to resize the items more often than not. If taken one at a time the items always kept their size. Selling to a fence and buying back the item doesn't seem to have any effect on the size if done one at a time and the fence does not have the same item in his inventory. If the fence has the same item in their stock this would be stacking in his inventory and can reset the size to a normal size. Because there is no way to buy back the specific item sold to the fence, if the fence had the same item I bought all the items he had and found that it wasn't consistent, sometimes all the items were the same size and sometimes the items retained their size, but again the effect of stacking seemed to resize the items more often than not. I tried the fence because I don't like having items with a red tag and the game itself doesn't seem to like red tagged items (they seem to sink, disappear or float more often than nontagged items - at least in my experience).
This experiment brought about some other observations. Travelling to the same place time and time again to grab a large (or small) item showed the size is not always consistent. A silver plate I had noted as large ranged in size from normal to larger than my character at different times when I travelled to go get it, but the three silver pitchers on display in a castle dining area appeared to remain the same size (large, normal and small). Obviously attempting to establish a list of large or small items would not work as there is no way to know for sure if the items retain their size. I assume the size of at least some items may be random depending on how the game loads or what ever effects item size. The last question this experiment raised (but I can't answer yet) is after I obtain the item at a size I like (ie: the silver plate that is larger than my character) and then display it in a house, will it retain its size or will it change over time? I suppose time will tell, but so far items I have obtained have retained their size during the course of my experiments.
Again, thanx for the replies and advice.198.169.65.1 22:29, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
- It's really odd that something would resize at random. That may be a bug in the game code, but if you can pinpoint exactly what item(s) do it, I can do some investigation in the Construction Set if you'd like, and see if there's something going on there. I remember coming across another report of a plate or something that was dropped and resized to insane proportions, but I think we all assumed it was a one-off problem instead of a regular occurrence. It would definitely be noteworthy if it's not a one-time problem. – Robin Hood↝talk 02:29, 13 October 2010 (UTC)

- I will be playing around with this some more just because I want to find these items to display in my house. I have found pitchers, a plate and an urn in various locations. The resizing plate I referred to is located in the Bravil Fighters Guild and is displayed on a cupboard in the dining area of the guild.
- The first question that comes to mind though is if the size change is effected by other items. For example, if the very large silver urn is in inventory and the large plate is then taken, does the plate take on the size of the urn or vice versa or is there no effect and finally, is this consistent or not?
- One other observation I have made is at least one mod I'm running seems to change item sizes, but again not consistently.
- I can't explore this as much as I'd like as neither the console or the Construction Set work for me on my computer (stupid laptop and Vista). — Unsigned comment by 198.169.65.1 (talk) at 14:52 on 13 October 2010

- Both of those problems can probably be solved. The console is a matter of turning off the IR port, if you can. See the last paragraph in the General Information section of the Console page for more info. I remember having minor issues with the CS on Vista, but I was able to get it running readily enough, so that may be something you'll have to do more research on. Depends what the exact problem is.

- I appreciate you looking into this, and I'll have a look at the plate in the Bravil Fighters Guild. What's the mod you're using that you think is causing size changes? – Robin Hood↝talk 02:00, 14 October 2010 (UTC)

The mod I thought was causing the size changes was Mud and Blood III which changes Bravil quite significantly. But I don't think thats what was doing it now after playing around with it a bit. As of last night I am looking at uninstalling and then reinstalling TESIV as something went wrong and I had a crash to desktop (which I have not had in a long time) and now none of my saved games will load - I just get an error message that the saved game I'm trying to load (any of the 135 of them) is not a valid save file. I don't think TESIV likes having mods turned off and on as I had been doing. Trying to start a new game resulted in a the game just stopping and freezing at the initial autosave in the prison cell. It was so bad I had to disconnect from the wall outlet and pull the battery to shut down as nothing else worked. I have downloaded the construction set from various places (including Bethseda's) I don't know how many times to ensure I didn't have a corrupt version or a bad download. No matter what CS file I install, it loads the active file and then at about 23, to sometimes as high as 38, percent of the Oblivion file loaded, the program stops responding. No idea why. As for the console, I have read a fair number of advice articles on this and turned off, on, configured or reset whatever was advised and nothing has been successful in getting the console to work using any key on the laptop. It worked once very sporatically, but hasn't worked since. Time for a high end desktop. Laptops are OK for solitaire when waiting for your flight at the airport, but not much else in games. Once I'm up and running again I'll not load any mods and see what I come up with. The mods change too many things and I'm not always sure if textures, meshes or items are actually turned off by just disabling the esp file in obmm.198.169.65.1 21:51, 14 October 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, sounds like you need a better machine. :) To address the last point, it depends how the mod is set up. Most smaller mods don't use a BSA file, so they would not have their textures disabled just because you disable the ESP. This isn't a problem if they're mod-specific textures, but if they override existing textures, it's a bigger issue. OBMM will usually deal with the problem if you double-click in the right-hand mod-list to completely disable the mod. If you just un-check the ESP in the left-hand list, it won't help. – Robin Hood↝talk 02:55, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
-
- I was just unchecking the esp in the left side of obmm and considering some of the mods it probably didn't disable everything. New desktop last night, 3.2GHz, 8G RAM, new video card rated "very high" on the wiki with 1G memory. About 1/2 hour of use the cooling fan on the new card started to sound like an old two stroke lawn mower with a cat caught in the blade so I'll be returning it today. Also, console doesn't work, I'll need to read up and find out why. Three observations made. First, TESIV is very dull and bland with no mods. I loaded the GOTY version, unofficial patch for TESIV and SI and OBMM only. Second, starting all over means sneaking/stealing/lock picking is a lot more difficult and guards 4 miles away in another building seem to see everything you do. Lastly, explored Bravil and there is the plate in the Fighters Guild, 3 (large, normal and small) pitchers in the Castle dining room on a table, a large and perhaps small carafe on a shelf in the castle dining room, a large pewter plate in Silverhome hotel on the dining area table and various sizes of pewter and metal tankards/mugs on shelves in different locations in the hotel. A large covered pot I had observed previously that acted like a container (could not pick up but opened with an item inside) in the mages guild isn't there so I'm assuming it was part of a mod. Also found the display daggers, which I had never run across before, in the Castle (I was stealing everything I could find to get cash for lock picks) and got arrested (no money). By then I'd had enough of the cooling fan noise and a somewhat frustrating game. Anyway, if you want, look at these items in Bravil, maybe there is something there. Let me know if you find something198.169.65.1 18:51, 15 October 2010 (UTC)

- On a hunch, I just tried something with the humongous plate in the Bravil Fighters Guild: I stole it, then repeatedly dropped it and picked it up. Size stayed the same every time. Then I re-loaded and went and joined the Fighters Guild and tried again. This time when I did the same thing, its size reverted to normal. And as a final test, I re-loaded, stole the plate, then joined the FG. Dropping it the first time (while it was still perceived as stolen in my inventory), it stayed the same size. But on picking it up (which meant it was no longer stolen, since I was now part of the FG) and dropping it again, it shrank to regular size. Apart from that, though, I wasn't able to observe any other random size changes. With the three pitchers in the Castle, I was able to pick them up and drop them repeatedly, even stacking them, and they always retained their size...probably because they were always stolen, just like the first time I stole the plate in the BFG.

- Been playing since 5am (its 3pm now) and with TESIV pretty much vanilla the only size change that occurs for me is on stacking and the change isn't consistent. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. Anyway, the lawn mower went back to the store and the new one is working fine. Thanx for the advice, help and interest.67.225.30.153 21:02, 16 October 2010 (UTC)
Puny Ancus is Strange
Reloaded TES IV and have GOTY, OBMM, UOP, UOPSupplemental, USIP, UOMP, BTMOD220, OBSE and Pluggy loaded. Have done not much in the game except deliver the amulet to Jaffre, wander through a couple of forts near imperial city, did the Two Sides of a Coin quest in Bruma, finished the arena quest and convinced a beggar to tell me about the thieves guild. On entering the Garden of Dareloth at approximately 1015pm to meet with Armand in order to join the guild, Puny Ancus jumped up from his bed and followed my character. While waiting for Armand, Puny approached and stated, "I'm sorry, you have to leave now, I need to close up.", or something similar. When I don't leave, Puny warns he will call the guards, then becomes aggressive and attacks my character. I have no bounty, no infamy, no negatives I can see. Reload of a previous save has no change in result. Anyone know how I triggered this and how I stop it?198.169.65.1 20:05, 19 October 2010 (UTC)
Is there a way to RESTART the SI and the Knight of the nine main quest lines?
Jayred will not follow me into the shivering isles gate. Also, the shivering isles main quest is not in my player journal. I didn't get very far so the only thing I can think of to fix this problem easily is to just start the quests over. How would I go by doing that?

Oblivion Blood of the Divines Main Quest Bugs
This has some spoilers if you haven't played through the main quest.
Once I've done the quest and returned to martin to give him the armor there is no option in the text to give it to him, the green arrow leads directly to him but when i try to talk to him he asks me how my search is coming but there is no option to talk to him about it only; daedric magic the mysterium xerxes and the oblivion gates.
I got the quest from martin after completing the allies for Bruma quest, also midway through i installed all the addons and updated the game but kept using my original saves. During the quest for some reason i didn't have the key to Sancre Tor so i used the console code to get it but after that i did everything as normal rescued the four blades spirits, got the armor once they'd lifted the enchantment etc. I noticed that some other people were having this problem but i can't find any solution to it.
- Maybe you didn't have the key because you didn't talk to Jauffre? And maybe that's why you can't give the armor to Martin either, because the quest was progressed through skipping. ~ Dwarfmp 17:24, 4 December 2010 (UTC)
To be honest i'm not quite sure how i started the quest as it took a while for my to get around to doing it, although in my quest log all it said was;
I should speak to Martin about the second item he needs for the ritual to open a portal to Mankar Camoran's realm of Paradise. I have found the Shrine of Tiber Septim. Its entrance is blocked by some kind of enchantment.I will have to find some way to dispel the enchantment in order to reach the Armor inside the shrine.
I know that previous to me cheating to get the key i had never been inside sancre tor so i assumed this was just a bug as several journal entries are missing, this being the case is there any way to move onto the next quest or will i have to start the game again? (I'm a chronic saver so much so i had to delete my previous four hundred or so saves to empty up my hardrive. .
- Well you could just set the quest stage to 90, so it's finished. That should make the next quest start when you talk to Martin ~ Dwarfmp 19:59, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

Free skill boost
Hi. When reading the page http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Free_Skill_Boosts , I became confused about the ability boosts.
"[T]he permanent rewards (Gray Prince's Training, Night Mother's Blessing) will prevent you from ever raising your "natural" skill levels to 100, so you may miss out permanently on some attribute increases and your character's maximum level will be reduced if the skills affected are Major Skills."
However, the page http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Creating_an_Awesome_Character , have a block skill at 103, so I wondered if the quest for that reward had to be taken after reaching 100, or if those points were counted under the "75 extra points" mentioned in http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Efficient_Leveling .
Waiting patiently for an answer, and a merry Christmas to you all. 193.213.105.201 00:36, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
- In order to have a skill permanently above 100 you have to take the free skill boosts after it is at 100, however skills other than athletics or acrobatics will not continue to raise anything after level 100, some players do so only for completion. --Wizy (Talk/Contribs) 01:29, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
