Laaneth is a Dunmer mage and a main character in The Forgotten Hero and Return to Clockwork City stories. She is friends with Tyr, who is trying to find her in the first act of The Forgotten Hero story. You and Tyr find her house swarming with Daedric cultists in Hopes Dashed, then rescue her from goblins in The Rescue. She joins you, Tyr, and various other characters in infiltrating the Imperial City in the second half of The Forgotten Hero.

In Return to Clockwork City, you find her at the College of Winterhold. You play as her in The Midden, helping expel a troublemaking student from the College. She then helps you find Alfe Fyr, who transports you to Clockwork City. You and Laaneth explore the city, looking for Swims-at-Night. You free him from bandits in Mire Mechanica, then the three of you set off to find The Mechanical Heart before Mecinar and the treasure hunters do. After a Collapsing Tunnel separates the three of you, you play as Laaneth again in Piston Cavum. Shortly thereafter, you have to choose whether to leave her or Swims-at-Night behind to fight off an army of fabricants in the Shaft of Sohleh. Whoever you choose to remain behind will be revived by Mecinar and return as your opponent in Return to The Inner Curiosity.

Kellen: "The Cultists had taken refuge in an ancient ruin. Only to fall prey to its ferocious new inhabitants."

Tyr: "Laaneth!"

Laaneth: "I could use a little help here."

During the match:

Laaneth: "Thanks for the rescue."

Tyr: "Are all the cultists dead?"

Laaneth: "I think so. And if we're not careful, we'll be too."

Laaneth: "Be careful. The goblins had a powerful chief with them when I first arrived. You'd better finish off as many of them as we can before he comes back."

Post-match

Kellen: "Laaneth had learned that the cult was secretly led by Lord Naarifin, the Dominion warlord who had captured the Imperial City."

Kellen: "To bring about the prophecy, he intended to sacrifice all of the city's inhabitants."

Kellen: "Laaneth suggested they seek out the Imperial Army, then in exile in Skyrim, and warn the emperor of Naarifin's plot."

Laaneth: "Why are they trying to kill us? Are they assassins? Dominion operatives?"

Tyr: "They're Nords. This is what we do for fun."

Laaneth: "If the locals weren't lying, the Legion should be nearby."

Swims-at-Night: "There they are!"

Tyr: "Hail! I am Tyr, knight brother of the Blades."

Laaneth: "Are you sure these crypts will lead us right into the White-Gold Tower?"

Swims-at-Night: "Are you doubting the greatest smuggler in Tamriel?"

Cassia: "It's crawling with the undead."

Swims-at-Night: "Well, if they were safe, everyone would use them."

Laaneth speaks during the match, saying "I sense mystical power within that altar. Perhaps it can quiet the dead."

Tyr: "This must be Lord Naarifin's study."

Laaneth: "Look!"

Laaneth: "The Orb of Vaermina! That's how they're tracking the army!"

Tyr: "Urk!"

Lord Naarifin: "So it is. And I'd like you to step away from it very slowly."

Laaneth: "Naarifin!"

Lord Naarifin: "And you are the one who escaped from my temple."

Lord Naarifin: "Give me the orb, please... or your friend dies now."

Tyr: "Don't do it!"

Cassia: "He's hurt, but he'll live."

Laaneth: "He's in no shape to travel."

Tyr: "Leave me. You need to get back to the Emperor."

Swims-at-Night: "Ever the tough guy. Come. Naarifin will have roused a hundred swords by now."

If you chose Orb during the Interlude:

Cassia: "You threw his life away! How could you?! "

Laaneth: "His death may already have saved thousands of lives."

Swims-at-Night: "Mmmm. We have to go. Naarifin will have unleashed a hundred swords by now."

Healer: "Thank the Divines. The emperor will live. Thanks to you."

Laaneth: "He's in no shape to lead the assault."

Emperor: "No. The troops... must believe the emperor is strong."

Emperor: "Stranger. You have proven a mighty warrior. Here, take my armor. In my helm, none will know who you are. Lead the battle in my stead. The fate of the Empire is in your hands."

Kellen: "Free from prying eyes, the Imperial forces launched a surprise attack from the West, followed by a similar attack from Cheydinhal. The hero would then lead the charge to the city gates."

Laaneth: "Well, in that armor you certainly look like the emperor."
