Linguistics is the study of languages and scripts throughout the Aurbis. Telenger the Artificer, a scholar of languages, theorized that tongues may have an intrinsic magical property known as word-magic.[1] Words are sometimes used in magical incantations, which can be subverted by the use of silencing magic.[2]

NotesEdit
- Some of the most powerful Tongues have voices so powerful they must remain gagged to prevent destruction. To communicate, these Tongues use sign language.[24]
- An unknown script associated with ancient magic surfaced in the Fourth Era. It was seen inscribed on the Eye of Magnus, written in Black Books, and on Draconic Word Walls in Apocrypha.[25][26][27]
