During the quest, the knights that are stationed in front of Alcaire's gates will actively try to intimidate the Alik'r Delegation.

Life of the DuchessEdit

Two knights will accompany Sir Hughes outside of Dame Falhut's house after you killed her.

The Safety of the KingdomEdit

Two knights will be stationed outside of the Duchess's room after her death was revealed.

The Flame of DissentEdit

Sir Edmund will ask you to rally the knights to the cause. Some of the knights will agree with Sir Edmund that they should not attack the Redguards:

"Preparing the entire order to go to war isn't easy. This is going to take some time."
"If Sir Hughes really wants us to go to war, I'd prefer he told us himself."
"This is not a good time for the Knights of the Flame to be divided."
"If Alcaire is truly threatened, regardless of where it comes from, I will defend it to the death."

Others have been convinced by Sir Croix that the Redguards are the enemy:

"I never thought I'd see the day when Firebrand Keep was divided. These are dark times indeed."
"I hear King Fahara'jad's been plotting to take over Alcaire for years."
"I didn't join the Knights of the Flame to sit on my hands. If I die in the coming battle, at least I'll go down fighting."
"If Alcaire falls, what's next, Wayrest? If these Redguards mean to invade, we have to stop them here."
"I'm a Knight of the Flame. We're sworn to protect Alcaire."

In all cases, you'll ask for their help:

The plan to attack the Redguards is wrong. Help Sir Edmund and I retake the keep.

If you're successful, they'll say:

"You're right. This doesn't make any sense at all. My duty is to do what's right, not to blindly follow orders.
I'm with you."

If you fail, you will get the following before they turn hostile and attack:

"You would have me disobey direct orders and turn against Sir Croix? You sound like that coward Sir Edmund.
You are an enemy to the order, and I will see you slain."

When they attack you.

Female Knight:

Knight of the Flame: "Loyalty will prevail!"

Male Knight:

Knight of the Flame: "Defend yourself then!"

Retaking Firebrand KeepEdit

During the fighting between the knights under Sir Edmund and Sir Croix, you will see allied knights fighting Sir Croix's forces. Once Sir Croix's forces has been defeated, the loyalists under Sir Edmund will restore order.

After the death of Sir Croix, some will say:

"It's going to take us a long time to heal after all this. The Knights of the Flame will never be the same again."
"I never wanted to raise a sword against my fellow knights. I feel terrible about what happened here."
"I never really considered Sir Edmund as a leader, but now I think he might be the right man for the job."
"This will go down in the history books as a dark day for the Knights of the Flame."
"If Sir Croix is dead, I guess that settles it. No battle with the Redguards after all."

Sir Hughes' FateEdit

In previous updates, this memory plays during Sir Hughes' nightmare where Sir Hughes addresses a couple of Knights of the Flame while under the influence of the Omen of Fear. This memory does not appear as of current updates:

Omen of Fear: "The Daggerfall Covenant is doomed to fail. You cannot trust the Redguards."

Sir Hughes: "The Daggerfall Covenant was a mistake. We can't trust the Redguards!"

Omen of Fear: "You can't afford to let your guard down. The Redguards could betray you at any time."

Sir Hughes: "We must remain vigilant. The Redguards could be plotting against us."
