Stirk Isle, commonly referred to as simply Stirk, is a large tropical island located within the Abecean Sea, off the western coast of Cyrodiil's Colovia. The region encompasses the entirety of the island of Stirk, several small islets near the island, and the waters of the Abecean Sea immediately surrounding the island. Weather in the region is typically sunny or mildly overcast, though rain or larger storms are not unheard of. The nearest mainland regions are the Strident Coast and Brennan Bluffs to the east in Cyrodiil, the Scarlet Washes and Hew's Bane to the north in Hammerfell, and Meditea to the south in Valenwood, while the neighboring island of Stros M'kai lies not to far to the west.
Due to its location along major oceanic trade routes that connect Cyrodiil to neighboring Hammerfell, Valenwood, Summerset, and even more distant provinces, Stirk sees a fair number of ships which stop at its only port in the town of Charach to resupply, trade, and shelter from the more severe weather of the Abecean Sea. In spite of this and the fact that it has been nearly continually inhabited since its original settlement by the Ayleids, the island is largely undeveloped and is viewed by many to be a provincial backwater of the empire. Whether this is due to difficulty of building on the islands rough terrain, the island's perceived lack of importance, a combination of both, or some other reason is unknown. Charach is instead mainly known for its fishing exports such as the Abecean longfin, a delicacy famed for its exceptional taste.
The island's only major settlement is the previously mentioned town of Charach, though several small farms can also be found near it. The town notably hosts a minor fishing industry, with services such as inns and taverns catering to its laborers, and is the location of the estates of several noble families, such as the Telvors and Piliouses. Additionally, a group of goblins belonging to the Wavereaver tribe have made their home in a cave found along the northern slope of the island. In its past the island was the location of the large Ayleid sea-fortress of Wormusoel, built by the Ayleids to defend against potential invasions by their Altmer, Direnni, and Bosmer cousins which, ultimately, never came. The impressive ruins of this ancient fortress can still be found on the northern side of the island.
The fairly rural environment of Stirk has allowed for many species of flora and fauna to flourish on and around the island. mooncrabs can be found on the shores of both Stirk and its many islets, while animals such as Weald goats, donkeys, rats, Colovian wolves, and bears can be found roaming the mountainous interior of the island. Fish such as the previously mentioned Abecean longfin, slaughterfish, spearmouths, and stridfish abound in the waters surrounding the island, while lamia and dreugh are not uncommon sights either. Flora found on the island include several species of trees, including yucca and palm trees, as well as smaller bushes and herbaceous plants; aloe vera, blood lilies, goldenrod, lady's mantle, spike rice, St. Jahn's worts, tiger lilies, and trinity plants are all common across the island.
