I've been a fan of The Elder Scrolls since 2006. I'm thrilled to be able to help edit UESP, by far the most useful gaming reference site I've ever seen.
TES Games I've Played, by Time PeriodEdit
- TES: Online (2E 582) - Played briefly on XBOne and now daily on PC. ESO+ subscriber.
- TES II: Daggerfall (3E 405) - Played briefly on GOG using Unity; looking forward to trying Skygerfall.
- TES III: Morrowind (3E 427) - Played briefly on XBox360 and briefly on PC using YAJAN via Wabbajack; looking forward to trying Skywind.
- TES IV: Obivion (3E 433) - Played for years on XBox360 and now on XBOne; looking forward to trying Skyblivion.
- TES: Blades (4E 180) - Played briefly on mobile.
- TES V: Skyrim (4E 201) - Played for years on XBox360 and now on XBOne.
- Never played TES I: Arena, TES: Battlespire, TES: Legends, TES: Redguard, or the TES: Travels series (Stormhold, Dawnstar, Shadowkey, Oblivion mobile).
PROJECTSEdit
OPEN "TO DO" LISTEdit
- Verify all ship names in-game vs. the Ships page in UESP wiki.
- Add an area for every named ship, without italics, so the "view on map" will work.
- Verify all ship pages use "zone=" (the name of the main zone map), and "subzone=" (the name of either the local area map in which the ship is located or the nearest zone map point of interest), and ONLY uses "settlement=" if there is a local area map or dungeon map in which the ship is located); otherwise the "view on map" will not work.
- Finish the last few Litany of Blood paths.
- On the map: Differentiate display level standards of Ayleid wells in Zones (Blackwood, specifically; perhaps others), where they are Marked, vs. Cyrodiil, where they are Unmarked (Fixed).
WORKED ON / COMPLETEDEdit
- Helped Thal with beta-testing the new map.
- Overhauled map display levels section of ESO Map Design page, with an eye to declutter at each zoom level and to tease out some further prioritization, such as putting world bosses/world events in their own level before exploration/quest hubs/points of interest.
- Created visual guide on ESO Map Design page for creating/editing quest markers.
- Updated all main zones, Cyrodiil/Imperial City/Imperial City Sewers, Village of the Lost, The Lion's Den, most cities, and many other maps to match new decimal layers.

EDITING THE ESO MAPEdit
- Here's the map: https://gamemap.uesp.net/eso/?world=tamriel&x=0.500&y=0.500&zoom=1.441
- How to update the map in ESO: https://en.uesp.net/wiki/UESPWiki:ESO_Map_Design
- Examples of quest objective markers on the ESO map that are actually helpful in-game:
- Bangkorai: Inside Razak's Wheel, there are three overlapping quests, so it's helpful to be able to see the target objectives simultaneously, to help plan the most efficient route possible.
- Clockwork City: A Bitter Pill. Seeing quickly where there are Herbalist's Satchels to collect makes the quest go faster.
- Coldharbour: At the Cliffs of Failure, there are multiple quests (The Endless War, A Bargain With Shadows, A Thorn in Your Side, and The Will of the Worm) that can get confusing without seeing it broken out on the map, with areas, where to talk to people, which section is which, etc.
- Craglorn: Path outlining the group loot boxes circuit connecting Cyclonic Anomaly and Fulminant Anomaly (not a quest, I know, but incredibly helpful).
- Deshaan: Supply Run. Seeing where all the healing supplies are can help you plan your way through an area filled with hostiles.
- High Isle: Tournament of the Heart. It's not obvious, particularly coming from the west, where to find the start of Isobel's path.
- Northern Elsweyr: In Orcrest, the steps of Unhealthy Preoccupation can get confusing with the various sub-sections of the city. Seeing where the quest markers are taking you (and seeing the city divided into sections) is helpful, for example when the in-game steps are telling you to go through the sewers but you don't have to.
- The Rift: Guard the Knowledge. The two different types of Glimmering Books and all their locations.
- Stros M'Kai: Izad's Treasure. You have to interpret clues given in the document (quest item), and they're not easy to figure out.
- Summerset: In Sunhold, during Sunhold Sundered, it is good to see the various "prisoners" icons, with notes to explain they do not count toward the quest objective "Rescue Chained Sunhold Citizens" (for which there are quest objective markers).
- Various cities: Litany of Blood. Knowing where to find the targets, and their multiple paths. Priceless.
- Various locations: All of the linked "portal to ..." during a quest, where they connect to a destination and that destination links back to the portal, so you can jump between maps
- Wrothgar: To Save a Chief. When you have to follow Eveli's arrow trail, while sneaking, it's nice to see ahead of time where the trail will lead, so you can plan your infiltration.
- Adding a map link to a non-ESO wiki page (like the one above)
'(map)' where "imperialsewershub" is the "World Name" of the map
- Searching for a brand-new map added by recent DLC? At the search bar at top left of any map, type: name:u37 (where 37 represents which update added the new map)
- List of all maps: https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Maps
- List of all places: https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Places
- Use <SHIFT> + <LEFT CLICK> when editing map locations to open the edit box for something that links to another map.
- If a place link isn't working
-
- { { Place Link|Blackreach: Greymoor Caverns Treasure Map I|mapworld=blackreach } },
- break the link by inserting maplink=nothing and adding map link
- { { Place Link|Blackreach: Greymoor Caverns Treasure Map I|maplink=}}{{Map Link|29135 } }
- Map scripting rules https://github.com/uesp/uesp-gamemap/blob/master/location.js#L1196

A few of the dungeons where I've added Elite enemies at display level 11Edit
- Abamath Ruins
- Forgotten Wastes
- Ilayas Ruins
- Labyrinthian
- Nchuand-Zel, including Dwemer spinning blade traps
- Razak's Wheel
- Tomb of the Serpents

A few of the locations I've worked on with multiple levels and grayed-out areasEdit
A few of the maps I've altered the zoom levels due to map complexityEdit
Old coding for quest map links, prior to visual guideEdit
- Quest Markers
- Quest givers and quest objectives should have no visible label. Here are samples of the key map link editing items for a quest giver and a quest objective:
QUEST GIVER: Icon Type: Quest Start [or Quest Start Main for "Zone" quests] Name: Aamela Rethandus [the name of the NPC/item giving the quest] Wiki toggle: On [only toggle it off and enter a unique wiki if it doesn't match the Name block] Label Direction: None Description: <i>Supply Run</i> <br> (upstairs) [name of quest in italics, with line break to display helpful info] Display Level: [see display level standards above] QUEST OBJECTIVE: Icon Type: Quest or Quest Small [or Quest Main / Quest Small Main for "Zone" quests] Name: Rescue the Woman [the quest objective step] Wiki toggle: Off: Orara Arthalen [when quest objective is a named NPC/item, enter their wiki page; otherwise, leave blank] Label Direction: None Description: <i>Rescue and Revenge</i> [name of quest in italics] Display Level: [see display level standards above]
PLAYING ESO 101
When you first start outEdit
- Change some Settings:
-
- Gameplay > GENERAL
-
- Limit Followers in Towns ON
- Companion Reactions MINMAL
- Gameplay > ITEMS
-
- Consolidate Area Loot ON (unless you're using the UESP addon, in which case leave it off)
- Auto Loot ON (unless you're not using ESO Plus with crafting bag, in which case leave it off)
- Auto-Add to Craft Bag ON
- Interface > HEADS-UP DISPLAY
-
- Automatic Quest Tracking ON
- Compass Companions OFF
- Nameplates > INDICATORS
-
- Followers OFF
- Social > CHAT SETTINGS
-
- Profanity Filter OFF (because it often inadvertently blocks mundane conversation)
- Get every free player home in the game; they're great for free fast travel.
- If you have the DLC for Blackwood, High Isle, or Telvanni Peninsula, immediately go get at least 1 of the 6 available Companions
- Buying one of each assistant type (banker, merchant, deconstruction) are gamechangers. Truly excellent for extended gameplay.
Benefits to joining a guildEdit
- When starting a new character, ask a guildmate to craft some basic starter armor for you.
- When starting a new character, use the guild roster in-game to "travel to player" for every player online; this will open up many new wayshrines.
- Former RBW member Batgirl's primary residence contains every crafting station in the game, and she's happy to let anyone use it. You can tell non-RBW friends to enter the following in the in-game chat:
/script JumpToSpecificHouse("@batgirl32",71)
- Once you've reached 100,000 gold in your bank:
- Ask a guild member to bring you to Craglorn or Coldharbour to visit the luxury furnishings vendor, Zanil Theran
- Go shopping for missing or higher-level set items at https://us.tamrieltradecentre.com/pc/Trade
The fastest, simplest way to...Edit
- ...get to an Outlaws Refuge unmolested (like when you have a bounty and want to get there to sell stolen items) is to use the Sentinel wayshrine or the House of the Silent Magnifico; the refuge is close, there are no guards, and the distance to travel once inside the refuge is short. Alternatively, if you have the Dark Brotherhood DLC, once you've unlocked the Shadowy Supplier skill, you can visit Remains-Silent inside Outlaws Refuges to receive items to help make you "less noticeable," including an Unmarked Sack containing a Monk's Disguise (see item).
- ...drop down from great height without dying is to use angled surfaces to bounce off them and avoid striking horizontal surfaces.
- ...get back to an Undaunted Enclave is to teleport to Snugpod in Elden Root.
- ...level up with XP: either Dolmen runs or Blackrose Prison Arena.
- ...deliver a master writ to Rolis Hlaalu, regardless of Alliance, is to port outside of player home Snugpod.

Other:
- Complete a group event: Forgotten Crypts in Deshaan.
- Excavate antiquities: Artaeum and Bal Foyen are small; easier to reach a high number of excavation sites faster.
- Pick locks: Dhalmora Hall of Merchants in Bal Foyen.
- Pickpocket: Shad Astula in Deshaan.
- Thieves troves: Thunder Falls Camp in Craglorn.
- Treasure chests: Safeboxes count for this. Otherwise: Forgotten Crypts in Deshaan, Treehenge in Malabal Tor, or the Halls of Regulation in Clockwork City.
- Use ultimate ability: Warden call forth the Eternal Guardian.
CraftingEdit
- Do not bother playing a crafter and collecting crafting materials ("mats") unless you're paying for ESO Plus, which comes with unlimited mats storage; you will simply not have room in your inventory to loot everything and you'll get frustrated.
- The best place to do daily crafting quests is Vivec City on Vvardenfell, just south of the wayshrine. There are no doors to go through (no loading screen time) and everything (including crafting daily postings and a bank with two outdoor counters) is close together. A close second is Leyawiin, with the bank being the only problem since it's indoors.

Scripts and Templates to RememberEdit
- To timestamp your comments, use four tilde ("~") symbols in a row.
- { {NewLeft} } (or try { {NewLine} }) to add extra space to the bottom of a section, before the start of the next section (helpful for pushing text down to allow enough room for an image).
- { {Map Link|12345|here} }
- { {Book Link|Name of Book Here} }
- To make a subordinate, indented, bulleted line, use two asterisks on the next line. To make it without a bullet, use two colons instead.
- Making a breakout by alliance:
- Auridon, Glenumbra, or Stonefalls
- This lore link 1 or this lore link 2 leads to the main UESP lore article, while this ESO link leads to the ESO article.
- To insert a link to a quest item, use { {Item Link|Tarnished Ring of Mara|questid=7580} }
- To link directly to a line item on a page, where the line item has an apostrophe in it, use ".27" to replace the apostrophe in the web shortcut: https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Blackwood_Quest_Items#Mathen.27s_Golden_Helm
- To point users to alternate pages with similar names, use { {About|the sailor|the fisher|Gulfreida} } at the top of the page.
How to Make Text Appear in ColumnsEdit

Here, take the lantern. Now, fair warning—I've never actually used it. But I heard a ghostly woman wanders the city gardens. We can test it there!"
Go to the city gardens. They are in the southeast corner of the town. Yisara will then catch up to you and then point at a spot in the garden.
- Yisara: "Perhaps there, near that overturned slab?"
