A ruby geode vein

Geode Veins are rock formations that produce crystalline structures rather than metal ores. The composition of the surrounding minerals determines the type of crystals that are formed within the geodes, so each area generally only produces a singular type of crystal. For example, the rock strata of Blackreach, along with the constant audible and subharmonic oscillations, are renown for producing Soul Gems. The legendary titanic upheaval of Solstheim, however, appears to have left it very diverse geologically, and geode veins of differing crystalline structures can be found there in close proximity to each other.
